I have just done an online questionnaire to determine whether DD1 has either ADHD or ADD with the results being highly probable.

Can anyone let me know how I go about finding out for sure, and whether I should just ride it out for a bit first?

After parents evening last week (DD1 is 4 and in Reception, goes full time after Easter) we realise that she really is a handful at school as well as at home. I came away thinking OMG has she got ADHD?!

Its only really been the last few months Ive noticed it with her, but Im also wondering if going to school full time will calm her down. Her teachers seemed to think that its simply she doesnt feel she has enough time at school to do everything she wants to and so has the attention span of a fish to get on to the next job.

Im quite scared too because she is a bright little girl, currently reading KS1 books because she can, and is able. She will be put into the top "set" after Easter when she goes full time in the hope it will help her knuckle down and aim to work to the level of the full time (since sept) children.

God Im waffling now, but any info from parents of ADHD/ADD children greatfully recieved.

Which questionaire was it? There is one that wants you to buy something and it doesn't matter what you fill in, they will tell you there is a high possibility of your child having ADHD and you should let them asses your child...

She's probably a bit bored at school, tbh

Dore or something?! She does seem to tick the boxes on the NHS direct website too, but I agree Coldtits, I did wonder if she was bored too. She loves going though, and hates saturday and sunday mornings when she realises there is no school in the afternoon, but Im wondering if she sees it more as a social thing with her friends than a learning thing because she is so bright.

Hi DanJARMouse, have you tried the ADDISS website? you may find some helpful information on there.

My ds2 has ADHD although not so much the 'hyperactivity' trait now. He is now almost 23! He was finally diagnosed at age 7 by a well known NHS Professor specialising in the condition.

I noticed 'symptoms' which I felt were outside of ds2 normal developmental level when he was only six months old and this continued. He is also Dyslexic.

There are so many reasons why a childs behaviour could change and as you say you have only noticed it recently, perhaps (if you haven't already) look for other possible causes first.

My ds2 has found coping with ADHD coupled with Dyslexia a real struggle at times and I wouldn't wish it on any child.

Good luck.
