How can I encourage my son to speak?

He is 2, he saw a speech therapist a couple of months ago, she said he's fine, but he says so little!!!!

He rarely copies me, he doesn't seem to want to talk to anyone. I have even tried to pretend I don't know what he means when he points, he just gives up and wanders off! I know he hears me, I know he understands insructions like "Find your cup" but he will not speak!

Has anyone got any ideas? Conventional or non- conventional, I am at my wits end, I just don't understand why he doesn't want to talk.

(sorry for the thread hijack)

Jimjams - did you see the extreme home makeover this week on dsicovery home and leisure???

The little boy was autistic and they made over the house to have a sensory room adn alarms for all of the doors in the house. They had a transmitter sewn into the little boys pjs and clothes which could be tracked by the police if he escaped!

Mum and Dad were both severely deaf adn so the whole functioning of the family rested on the older son who was hearing and NT!

The little boy with autism loved swinging on a swing so they built him the biggest swing you have ever seen and he loved it.

I was in floods of tears at the end, as was the presenter and all of the macho builders! Real heartwarming stuff
