When to let DD start hair removal??

DD is only 11.5 but has thick dark hair on her legs and she is very self conscious (to the point of refusing to wear a skirt without tights), she has also been teased at school for underarm hair. There are only 4 girls in her class and they are roughly at the same stage of development.

She would like to def remove the hair on her legs and possibly under arms but it seems incredibly young to me. I know I was alot older but then DD is a lot more mature puberty wise than I was at that age.

Any advice? Thank you.

What about sugaring? My sister in law was told by a beauty therapist friend NOT to let her daughter shave or anything but to start with sugaring as apparently the hairs grow much more thinly. Don't know how this has worked out yet, but will certainly bear this in mind when my 3 girls are old enough. Not sure about the pain factor with sugaring though, anyone else had it done?

what is sugaring please? would it be suitable for DDs arms? Is it the kind of thing we can do at home? I don't think either of us would be up for a salon visit

It's a type of depilatory similar to waxing but using a sugar mix. Very ancient method used in middle east. Lots of imfo if you google it.(Where I got this from) Should think you could find a place locally that does it.I remember that Bodyshop used to do a home kit not sure if they still do it depends how brave you are. Vividly remember a home wax kit I got at 16!!! Actually Boots might be helpful I vaguely remember they had something. Sorry can't be more helpful. On 2nd glass of wine and still have to do DH and my tea, don't think he expects anything too elaborate

I'm not 100% sure, but sugaring is basicly waxing, but using a thick sticky stuff made of sugar, rather than wax. You warm it, spread it thinly on leds/wherever, then press a strip in cloth (linen, or thin cotton) on, and rip off. Same as waxing, esentially (if I am thinking of the right stuff).

If you think you might want to wx at home rather than salon - fine, it is much cheaper...BUT, I would really reccomend you go to a salon at least once, so that you get an idea of the technique. If you don't spread thin enough/pull fast enough, spread wax in the right direction, then it will be very painful and fairly inneffective at home. Its not that its difficult, just that seeing the technique will really help.

There was a question below about epilators - yes, they pull the hair out. Look like a little electric shaver. Fine if you don't have much hair, otherwise wax first, then epilate every few days/once a week.
