How many night feeds does your 7 month old have?

Mine used to wake a million times a night and is currently on 2 night feeds (between 11-2am and 4-5:30am). Is this about right or should I be pulling them all now?

eeeek I am in same boat..

he was sleeping thru, now is teething like a demon and currently has a big feed prior to going down at 7pm, then wants another at 122am, then again at 430am. He is driving me bonkers, I am slurring my words so tired,

VoodooTheOriginal · 02/03/2009 21:39

was goingt o ignore him tonight, giving him water makes him go bananas
have tried to top him up with a beaker of formula at teatime but he loathes it, little bugger sausage.

BriansAmazingBeard · 02/03/2009 21:42

ah it's interesting that you say you're tired - 2 wakings for mine is great, so I've been feeling a bit pathetic for wanting a nap in the day and wanting to go to bed early -I think DH thinks I'm a wuss (which i am). At least I'm not the only one

At 7mo mine were going through a dodgy stage re sleeping. They had just started on solids and it's hard to get the mix of food and milk right therefore hard to know if they are hungry or just waking out of habit. They also had a cold at this age.

They were 8mo when I did some sleep training to get them to sleep through, which they did within three nights. It was then that I felt confident that they were eating enough to not need night feeds. Lots of people on MN say food is not linked to sleeping through but I have found that it is.

I just fed mine every time they woke at 7mo, and they'd go right back to sleep. Once or twice a night it was.

Is your DC hungry or is it habit? My DD was Are you breast feeding?
I wouldn't worry whether this is right or not. You know your child best and what works for you.
Are you breast feeding?

My DD2 is 7 months, she has no night feeds. At 7ish she has 4 ice cube portions of puree, then a yoghurt and an 8oz bottle. she is put down at 8and sleeps till 7.

Mine woke at 2 am a couple of nights ago, so i decided not to feed before 2am if he woke last night. I managed to resettle him after 10 mins of grizzling when he woke at 11pm but then he was awake again 45 minutes later (usually if he's been fed he won't wake again so quickly), so i concluded that he must be hungry! I fed him and then he was out for the next 5 hours. Can I assume that he still needs his night feeds

I gave DD a dummy to see if she was hungry or just wanted comfort and dummy worked, she slept right through. She only ever had dummy at night in cot. Have since removed the dummy and she sleeps well (apart from teething and sick bug etc)

dizzydixies · 02/03/2009 21:54

my 7month DD has a bfeed about 6pm, a dream feed about 11pm and then again about 6am but thats on a good night

neenztwinz · 02/03/2009 22:11

I think one night feed at that age is definitely normal.

VoodooTheOriginal · 03/03/2009 21:46

yeah, ds is a little piggy, 3 big meals with puddings and a big feed before pm nap, during day. Last night he woke at 225, so fed him on both sides (would normally have only done one side) he ate loads and then slept through till after 8am which was preferable to waking up twice to do two smaller feeds.
just got to roll with it!
He is teething and very dribbly.
