Anyone have any great ideas for rainy day activities?
Done pretend cakes, actual ckes, play doh, hide and seek, odd one out, which one is missing and snap.
Now, we're getting bored!
Any suggestions for books with activity ideas? Need inspiration! thanks

cutting and sticking toys out of the Argos is a favourite with my DS. It's free and good practise for cutting skills

yep, cutting and sticking, sticker book, tap and hammer game, hungry hippos, painting.

playing with rice (or beans) in a deep tray - give him/her scoops, jugs, cups, bowls pots etc. and you'll have him happy for ages!

Junk modelling with cardboard boxes and loo rolls etc. (need to collect them first )

Get a big cardboard box and make it into a train/car/plane/space ship

Make a den and fill it with cushions etc.

cooled, cooked spaghetti with some food colouring is great fun to play with. Yoyu can let them makes shapes on a placemat.

Also, make gloop from cornflour and water. Hell, even I like playing with this! You can hide shells etc in it.

Fill a washing up bowl with warm soapy water (on a plastic sheet or towel) and tlet them 'wash up' plastic cups, bowls etc.

have a mad dancing half hour (you tube is good fun for this)

We've been making birdfeeders out of pinecones. You stick lard into all the gaps then roll it in seed or nuts. The great thing is DCs then spend ages at the window waiting for and watching the birds.

We've been doing 'home softplay' recently - getting all the bits off the sofa that will come off and piling them in the middle of the floor for general leaping on, building into massive towers to push onto mum, making caves..

On the you tube theme, we've been watching sheepdogs rounding up sheep, finding clips of animals making their noises, stuff like that.

I got a couple of activity idea books out of our local library. They weren't great, but then maybe that's just my ds!

go on a day trip somewhere then on a rainy day make a scrap book using the entry ticket, some photos etc ... make an "all about me" book with photos of your dd/ds, parents, grand parents, cousins, pets etc. They love them! Take any plastic animals/dinosaurs etc and wash them all in the kitchen sink whilst you get on with your chores. Trips to the library, story time at the local bookshop, a wet walk in the woods/by the beach to collect some twigs, stones etc to make a collage. There are LOADS of things you can do .... (you can tell my ds is at nursery full time and I don't get a chance cant you?).

We had a ball the other day doing feet painting - I literally covered the dining room with sheet paper and old carboard boxes and had two plates of paint and let him loose. I did make sure I had a bowl of hot water, a naked child and a towel first but I'm not currently houseproud as we are doing the house up - but he didn't make any mess.

Garden play still goes on here - including water play, sand play, and mud. We also do some gardening which he's really good at transferring compost and clearing stuff for me!

I've found a few good preschooler sites on the computer that DS quite likes but I restrict them to 15 min a day.

Cooking - DS joins in everything I cook.

We do quite a lot of painting, playdoh, sticking, scissor practice, whatever the latest craft thing I can think of.

Reading.

Cushion chaos/bouncing on my bed

Making a den

Duplo takes up loads of our day.

Washing up

Walks, puddle jumping - even in the rain - he LOVES this. Just gear them up properly.

Disco time - dirty dancing is the current favourite.

I have a huge sheet of mdf that I prop up on a box which he uses for racing his cars down.

Any sort of role play - at the moment it's mostly shops.
