My 7 MO DS is REALLY shouty. He isn't crying. This is different. It is loud and shouting. He just shouted all the way through dinner. What can I do? What is he going on about?
My 6 yo DD never did this. What's happening!!! and the little bugger still doesn't sleep through the night, but that's a whole different conversation.
HELP Please SOMEONE!!!

Mine is quite shouty too. I think he is frustrated as he can't crawl yet. He has started to sit unaided though, and he can stay quiet for a little longer now. mine doesn't sleep through the night either.
Sorry no help, but you're not alone.

DD (10 mths) is very shouty. She has been shouting for most of today. I think its when she's a bit off colour, her teeth are giving her jip. I find it quite funny for a while but after a couple of hours it starts to hurt my head. Its definately not crying though, she sounds like she's in sat in the back benches of the house of commons!

My 7 month old does this - particularly at dinner. I always think of it as him joining in the conversation that is around him!

ilovealgreen · 26/02/2009 21:10

Mmmm Thanks all.
He has been able to sit up for a while now and he is desperate to walk. He crawls backwards as well so gets further and further away from what he wants. That makes him shout too!
Plus he hates lying down, when I change him you would think that I am tearing his arms off the noise he makes, so i guess it is just frustration.

My 6 yo sits next to him and seem completely oblivious to it all. why can't I be?!?!?

Does he finger feed or get fed with a spoon, as my dd2 was like this and finger feeding some of the meal on her tray helped (bowls end on the floor!) Sounds like frustration, dd2 still does it at 10mths if she wants something and isn't being understood. Make suggestions and listen to subtle differences in response i.e. dd2 will go ehh when its what she wants and argh when it isn't

I had a shouty 7 month old - I now have a shouty 3 year old so if you can find a way to keep him quite let me know! Ds has always been vocal and loud - I've tried the whole indoor/quiet voices thing but when talking he is just so loud (he seems to have bat hearing so that not a problem!).Dh reckons he gets it from my family

Hello. Dilly he is sat at the table in a trip trap thingie and has a mixture of both finger foods and spoon feed.
The dog is getting very fat!
Think I maybe have to come to terms with the fact I have a noisy one.

DD (10mo) is very shouty and "spirited" too, she's very dramatic about everything, and at the minute I'd having a terrible time changing her nappies as I would need 6 arms - one to pin down each limb and two for the nappy changing, and she shouts a lot about that. I bring loads of toys to the changing table and sing her songs but more of then than not she flings the toy away, ignores the singing and carries on wrestling with me and shouting It's VERY hard to bath her too as she wants to stand up and jump up and down!! She just will not sit or lie still and has a variety of shouts and ear piercing screams as well (count yourself lucky if you don't have those!) Well at least we'll never be bored!

pispirispis · 26/02/2009 22:13

Oh dear - I'm having a terrible time and more often than not (tsk).

ilovealgreen · 07/03/2009 19:53

pispirispis - My is exactly the same!!!
you would think i was breaking his arm of and hitting him with the soggy end not changing his nappy the noise he makes. It's a three man job!
