You can get 'cruising' shoes for this stage which are still very soft and flexible.

My DS2 is at the same stage and we just bought him some today as can't really let him toddle outside in just socks when its wet etc.

we changed from cruisers to walkers when she was happy to toddle around on her own unaided most of the time. Don't worry - it took her 18 months to be where your dd is!!

Cruisers are just a bit softer and more flexible but they can wear them for a while. So if they stood on glass it wouldn't go through the sole of the shoe.

I won't be buying ds2 any proper walking shoes until he grows out of the cruiser ones.

oh ok thanks for that. will be shoe shopping tomorrow

And you should definitely tell people she's walking .

Although if anything like my DS2 we've been at this stage for about a month. He's a very laidback/lazy boy and would so much rather be carried .

does anyone now where i can get some rains(sp) from ??

I think mothercare do wrist lead-type things. Granny has just bought DD a little backpack thing which has a lead clipped onto it. I was very skeptical at first, but it's great when shopping and paying for things, which is just when you're otherwise occupied and DD does a runner! Fits a sippy cup and a few other odds and ends in the bag (mummy's purse and phone usullay!)
