If your dc was really well-behaved at say 3 or 4 what are they like now, and if they were really 'challenging' then, are they still like that now?

Just curious....

they were all fairly well behaved at 3 or 4 and are all fairly well behaved now...

and that has got to be the most completely useless, pointless answer in the history of mumsnet

My dd is quite challenging, she is not naughty or unpleasant but requires a lot of effort and attention, perhaps because she is an ony child. She is still the same now. She is now though, and always has been, utterly fabulous.

Well it's probably a really pointless, useless question....so not your fault

She was quite demanding in the womb, but I am quite a demanding person as is her father. All complete egocentric drama queens.

Ds is remarkably easy now but was a nightmare baby (love him though I did of course) and I suppose I'm wondering if his personality is 'set' now or if I'm due another horror phase soon!! I'm sure he's going to be a horrific teenager as he's a right goody two shoes now and it would only be fair....

DD1 at the age of 3/4 fine no problems.

DD1 now 14 almost 15 does listen and will take punishment but will challenge us every step of the way! but then thats teenagers I guess!

On the other hand DD3 fantastically easy baby (well and truly) Ok as a toddler too, but she has turned into at times a right little madame! We often have to remind her that she is not the only child in family etc! She is 8!

We have not brought them up any differently!

twinsetandpearls · 25/02/2009 23:02

Apparantly I was a good baby but nightmare as an older child. My sister was a difficult baby but an angel as a child and teenager.

ds was a farkin nightmare at 3ish
argumentative,stroppy,stubborn and moody

he is 6 now and has been a delight for a few yrs, very easy child

can't remember with dd,but she's a placid easy child as well

yawningmonster · 26/02/2009 07:11

still in the 4's at the moment and have to say the last year has been fairly hellish. We occasionally see another side to him now at 4.5 but mostly still pushing every limit he can possibly push...I pray with every fiber of my being that things will be better in the future as there have been times in the last year where I have actively hated being a mum but I am pretty sure that there is a lovely little boy full of potential in there somewhere.

DD was high maintenance as a baby, then a dream from then on...now waiting for the onset of teenagerhood...she's 11.
DS was a dream baby and quite shy and retiring at 3...wouldn't say boo to a goose, hiding behind me etc. Then he hit 4 and its been hell challenging ever since . He is now nearly 10 and actually quite nice sometimes, so I hope that the niceness continues to grow until he is 18

cory · 26/02/2009 11:05

Dde was very high maintenance at 3-4. Is now at 12 quite mature for her age and generally easy to get on with.

Ds was a dream toddler; is quite demanding at 8.

These things come and go.

I was a very stroppy toddler, but quite mature and sensible later on. My db was an easier and gentler child, but more difficult as a teenager.

ByTheSea · 26/02/2009 11:08

DSs (now 12 and 13) were challenging then and continue to be very challenging and DDs (now 9 and 6) were easy then and continue to be easy.

Both dd's have been feral from birth, or spirited as strangers like to point out. I am dreading the teenage years. Hopefully they will have calmed down by then?????
