''Tantruming'' 7.5month old- Is this normal?

My georgeous, sweet dd (7.5/8months old)has started throwing what I can only describe as baby tantrums. This happens when I take an object off her that she wants. (These objects often happen to be the inappropriate one's that I don't really want her to play with.) She also throws a wobbly when grandad walks out of the room and she ofetn cries with frustration. A wobbly often consists of back-arching/ writhing and screeching loudly. Does anyone else have this or have I got one fiesty baby?!

Sounds completely normal to me

I have a very fiesty 7 month old as well

Yep, normal.
Ds1 started tantrums [full-blown screaming, throwing himself to the ground, kicking legs, going purple in the face] from around 9 months onwards... and has not stopped yet [he will be 6 YEARS next week ]!!

Im a little bit sad as i think she might be growing up.

It's bittersweet you are they are growing up and thriving but a little you are losing your baby.

My DD3 definitely tells you when she is not happy with something, small as she is.

Definately bitter sweet! Sometimes it's hilarious though. the other day it was the end of the world because i wouldn't let her chew her pink hairbrush!

hope that didn't sound mean. i spose that's how i will survive the major tantrums- the lack of perspective is endearing. or am i mad?

My 10 month old is doing this too and it looks a bit dangerous: he throws himself backwards and risks hitting his head. Surely it can't last for 6 years!?

Mummyfor3 · 21/02/2009 23:34

DS1 has improved no end, HZA, however compared to his brothers he is a stellar drama queen - and I expect will remain one, much like his father .
DS2 (almost 5) has not had much in the way of tantrums but seems to be obsessed with his genitals and girls ... I do not know which one embarrasses me more sometimes....
And cute little DS3 (11 months), well, he is just finding out about being told "no" and being able to refuse himself, oh happy days !

i am a bit that it starts so young!

Depends on the temperament of the baby. Both mine were like this from birth. Went from zero to wailing in seconds if something was not right. Just strongminded babies and children.

Both tantrummed properly as toddlers.

dd was a very chilled out baby apart from colic. She hardly cried for two weeks when we bought her home. However, she is a strong - willed, determined little soul which I do cherish.
