'Bad' language/cheek ... any bright ideas?

DSs have been fairly easy with language, but ds1 (about 4) discovered that "idiot" really wound me up, and thereafter used it to good effect. I started ignoring it and the novelty soon wore off. But now they are both saying "bloody hell" and something else similar, I can't remember offhand what.
and ds2 also says "idiot" frequently - including to me and dh

I know they're not 1st degree swearing and in the grand scheme of things not actually "that bad", but it really, really annoys me; especially "idiot".

The general "make it clear I don't like it, but primarily ignore it" approach doesn't seem to be working. So what do I do now?

Can I send him to scary Cod for a week?!

I thought that thread was you when I saw the title Cod

With this language thing I've been a bit too laidback about it: against my nature! Anyway, times have changed and am now being strict, as I'm sure they were well aware that whilst I calmly said "I don't like to hear that sort of language", I was inwardly seething and fuming, which was why they've been doing it so much.

I am also secretly terrified that they have become so blase about it they will use it at school, and the scary Head will phone me up

Well, they very rarely say "bloody hell" anyway, so haven't had that one recently. Re idiot (mostly ds2) Thurs/Fri great progress - he just said it once, I had a big talk, and we didn't hear it again. But then he's mostly at school or in bed, so not much opportunity.

Today hasn't been so good. I've had to have several "serious talks" with him ... watch this space!

I totally forgot ds was with me in the car yesterday and effed and blinded all the way to temple meads (to meet bensmum3) and he kept saying "MUUUUUUUUUM! Stop it, that's swearing!" so there you go, you can get to a position where you're bollocked by your children for bad language
