Is there any way I can shift the time of my ds's early morning poos?

I have a feeling I know the answer and I'm not going to like it...

ds2 is nearly 8 months old, ever since he was tiny he has woken up in the small hours for a pooh. It's now part of his routine, ie. wake at 4am, roll about/ shout/ squeak/ chat/ keep mum awake until 5, do poo, mum changes nappy, feed, refuse to go back to sleep until rest of house wakes up at 6.30, have some breakfast, go back to bed at 8 ish. I'm still getting up 2 or 3 times a night with him anyway and so on top of that I could do without being woken for the day at 4am

Has anyone successfully managed to alter the time their baby does this? And how? Or is he the only one who does this anyway?

Hello my little boy would pooh at random times through the night too, although he just kind of grew out of it, i realise your fustration you just dont need another thing waking them up that in turn wakes you up,i really cant think of anything, other than to look at his feeding pattern is it regular if so you could try to change that but not sure that you would want to, sorry not much help but i do feel for you,x

My DTs used to do early morning poos as well, although not quite so early as your DS! I was advised not to give them too much fruit in the evening so that their bodies digested it during the day rather than at night. It was a while ago though, so I'm afraid I can't remember if it worked or not .

Unfortunately though it sounds like it's developed into a bit of a habit, so the chances are if you manage to stop the poo, he'll probably carry on waking at that time for a bit.

Sorry not to be more help - you have my sympathies, but that doesn't really do you much good though .
