When to move children into the same room to share

Ok
So I have an 18 month old son and a 5 month old daughter who both have their own rooms at the moment. I want them to share a room from an early age to understand the concept of sharing, that and the fact we want a big family, at least 4 (god willing of course).

I have kept them apart at the moment because my youngest was feeding through the night, but she now does 7 - 7 like my little boy.

Luckly my toddler adores his sister and asks for her as soon as he wakes up and he was only 13 months when she arrived he does not remember life without her

My question is, when have people moved a baby into a toddler's room and how did they approach it? Also should I get my toddler into his big bed before I move them in together

Thanks for your help?

I currently have 3 sharing - ds (4.6), dd1 (2.10) & dd2 (11 mo).

In each case I just moved the youngest in as she turned 8/9 months & moved out of our room. It's never been a problem! (In fact we're moving to a much bigger house soon & ds is not at all sure he wants his own room).

One tip: make sure the new roommate has an absolutely spectacular cot mobile. Ds & dd1 LOVE having dd2 in with them because of hers (it lights up, it rotates, it plays frog noises, it projects patterns on the ceiling )

I don't think I'd have it coincide with changing ds's bed if you can help it - either do that now & hold off moving dd in, or keep him in his cot a bit longer? We had a few strops when dd2 went into dd1's cot & dd1 into ds's lower bunk iyswim...

We have just moved dd2 1.6 in with dd2 2.10. They do take about 45mins to get to sleep after laughing and singing, but so far had no probs .

I do second the projector thing, they each have one.

Thanks for the advice. Love the laughing and singing thing, thats part of the reason I want them to share, I am more than happy for a bit of mischief if it means they grow up close

I will leave it a few more months then give it a go

A
