my dd is 15 months and inches away from walking therefore wants to be on her feet at all times! We spend a lot of time outdoors and she is desparate to walk alongside me (which she can do if holding my hand)but as the weather is so wet in newcastle most of the time she needs outdoor shoes. Problem is she's just a 1.5 and under a 2 they just don't exist i have search everywhere!!! anyone else had the same problem? or even better a solution?

we ended up with size 2 for dd - and huge socks!! I didn't find a solution other than that, I'm sorry to say.

thanks a lot :-) was a little worried doing that coz i thought they may think i just wanted her to have some and was getting them before shes ready but i think i need to get a grip and just go in and say i am aware of the risks i.e clown feet when she's older!

i think we should keep bumping, just to see if anyone knows any better idea

Seriously tho, the shoes all come up different "fit" - as you will find later when you are told that your child measures 8.5 and you finish up walking out of the shop with a 9.5 in a completely different width fitting
Get a sympathetic but competent assistant in the shoe shop and explain what you need. All of mine have winter birthdays so all wanted to walk at just this time of year too ..snow and everything. I explained this and got plenty of help, and as i said earlier was in the same boat as you with dd, teeny weeny feet, beginning of december b/day, decided to walk in snowy february.

My DD1 has tiny feet, too, but they are wide. She too had to have a size 2 shoe, but in a G fitting- so her feet looked kind of square!

The shoe shop we go to normally give us half a size up to give room to grow a bit- makes the shoes last much longer.

ha i was so desparate when it snowed i went and bought a pair of really charvy nike trainers in a 1.5 but she walks like a space man, can hardly lift her feet! why would they create such small shoes and put lead in the soles, surely this is a huge design flaw! its like making a hat out of cement

My babies first walking shoes were a 2H.very sweet but an H is a pain to get shoes for ,older dd has gone down to a G and that is easier.Startrite have more H fittings than clarks but still not much choice.

PinkyMinxy · 19/02/2009 16:29

helly mine both have H fitting feet and the shop we go to fits them in Ricosta shoes- they are lovely.HTH
