We did it from a very young age, so don't know from personal experience, but I have heard that it usually takes a few days, then you'll notice the night feed gradually get later.

We did dream feeds with DS1 at about 10ish from 5 weeks, he still had a 2am feed till about 6 months though . With DS2 we just got him up for a feed about 10ish, kept lights low and put him stright back down etc but he was awake and he slept through (til 8am) from 8 weeks . TBH I think night waking depends on the child rather than whether they have a 'late evening' feed or not.

With DS1 from around 5 months (when we started weaning) we started to reduce the amount of milk we gave him for the 2am feed then replaced it with water, then just shushed him back to sleep without a drink and at around 6 months he just stopped waking for it.

At 10 weeks if he's waking and hungry I would just feed him, he's still very small.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but thats our experience anyway

Ahhh 10 weeks...I need another baby...

We started the dream feed and it was a disaster. Basically it woke her up.

But at 2 or 3 months (I cant remember) we re tried it and it helped, we kept it up until 10 months as were so scared of stopping it!!

She slept through at 5 months ish.

I don't do dream feeds as such with my 10 wk old (we don't try to put her down at 7pm or whatever), but between 8-10.30pm-ish she has two bottles (she usually goes 3-4 hours during the day between feeds). It's not a dream feed, as she isn' always asleep, but it's a 'tank up' and she will sleep for a 6-8 hour stretch after that, so from 10pm, she will wake usually between 4.30-6am and then go back down until 10am-ish. Works for us...

I used to dream feed my ds from the beginning- worked wonders!!! best thing i ever did. I used to express after the morning feed to get the nice rich milk. then i used to go to sleep at 9pm and my dh would do the dreamfeed at 10.30pm- he loved it as used to miss his bed time.
We turned the lights on low (dimmer) and gentle/semi woke him to feed. he used to fall asleep half way through the bottle so would then change his nappy and then carry on feeding the rest of the bottle. It worked for us because i knew he would wake up at 2am. then every days it pushed later and later until he was sleeping from 10.30-6am at about 9 weeks- Lifesaver for me! (need my sleep!!!)
Then slowly started reducing the time of the dream feed and the amount.

So yes- i would persist and keep on at it. it may not work straight away but persist. does wonders!!
good luck!
