HOW CAN I TELL IF DD IS GAGGING DUE TO COLD OR JUST TRYING IT ON?

I raised a thread yesterday i think about dd not wanting milk, but i think this couyld also be related. dd has over past couple of days started gagging at some of her foods, and for ages getting her to eat anything at breakfast is an absolute nightmare. now, she has also had a sort of cold for well over a week, and i say sort of becauise the only sympton is a blocked runny (always clear, not the thick yellowy greeny snot!) nose where by most of the time she is breathing through her mouth and she has a delightful crusty nose.

so, today she did the gagging thing over fish fingers, which is usually the fail safe tea-time if she's been a monster during the day. i can't work out if she is gagging because she has so much snot or phlegm on her tummy food just isn't pleasant to be eating at the moment. she did start doing this just a breakfast time about a week ago, would that be linked??

She probably can't breathe when she swallows - feels like she's choking - gags.

Greensleeves · 16/08/2010 13:38

trying what on? Confused

she sounds poorly. she is probably having trouble eating because of congestion and often when people are ill they don't feel hungry. Give her time to recover, or take her to your gp if you are worried.

narmada · 16/08/2010 13:41

yeah, I also wondered at the 'trying it on' thing Hmm

ds was a world champion gagger and when he had a cold almost EVERYTHING made him gag (and then vomit).

He wasn't putting it on, he was just rubbish with a snotty nose. During a bad 3 months when he was constantly snotty for various reasons (colds, teething, etc), he must have attempted to vomit almost EVERY meal.

Try cutting down/out her dairy, as that was just about the only thing that broke the snot/vomit cycle.

(happy days)

God, have just seen this is an ancient thread.

yousaidit · 21/08/2010 13:38

It's my thread!

and narmada and greensleeves, the Hmm and Confused not really needed?

dd was, and still is, the queen of playing up, especvially at dinner time and can go from food spitting, snotting it out, letting it just drop out of her mouth (nnot all the time) so a year and a half ago i was not as confident as i would be now about what to do.

But thanks for the post, better late than never and all that! Grin

Why do people suddenly decide to answer ancient threads?! Lol

yousaidit · 21/08/2010 13:40

do you like how i had no idea about not using capitals as it is shouting and usedthem for the full title? Grin ... ah, so thats where dc get their attention seeking shouting from!
