My little one keeps getting out of her toddler bed in the day to play :)

My 14 month old has been in her toddler bed for a month now with no problems. We are expecting No. 2 so we need her cot and wanted her to get used to her bed before the little one arrives.
The problem has begun now she is nearly walking and gets out in the day to play. I have taken out all of her toys in the day to stop the temptation but it makes no difference. I have tried just leaving her to play however she could be in there 2 hrs happily playing and not sleeping but gets very grumpy just before tea. Today I put her back in her cot in the nursery to see what would happen and sure enough she is a sleep while I write this.....
Any tips??? Please note she has never fallen out and goes to bed fine without getting out to play and only gets out in the morning when she is ready....

Could you not get a cheap cot from ebay until she feels ready to settle in the bed? I think you'll find when she's walking that she may get out even more my DD is 21m and I'm not planning to put her in a bed until she's 2 as I know she'll scarper as soon as she's awake! Pretty impressed that she's sleeping at nights without getting out though.

I have thought of this, however it may seem selfish, I was trying to get all of the teething problems with the bed out of the way before our second comes along as things will be hard enough then with two ! Maybe she is too you, however we have no problem at nights???? It could be that her sleeping pattern has changes, in fact it is all over the place where as she used to be like a clock an hr in the morning and 2 in the arvo. I put it all down to the toddler bed and starting to walk. Maybe it's her sleeping patterns and she isn't tired enough when she is going down and not the bed???

Oh I wasn't suggesting that you are wrong to put her in one just that my DD would be running around all night if she was in a bed!

hi brightongirldownunder,

I never thought that you were suggesting I was wrong, I am so sorry if that is what my reply implied.
I just want to sort it out as I am very tired in the last weeks of my pregnancy and having a toddler that is grotty is not easy!
I might try the travel cot idea in her room to work out the pattern for a few weeks....

Thanks for your input and ideas

No worries indi, think we got our wires crossed! Good luck - travel cot sounds like a good alternative.
