I had one, over 6 years ago before they were patented in the UK

I loved it - so did DS1

no idea where to buy one now, sorry, gave mine to my sil

ramonaquimby · 23/01/2009 19:00

yes, we used one for 2nd and 3rd kids - was a godsend for dd2 as she didn't sit up until quite late, and I used it for feeding. I just gave one away! try ebay? they are quite expensive new

Marthasmama · 23/01/2009 19:01

Mothercare online had them in their sale and Bumptothree have them too.

kayzr · 23/01/2009 19:02

I hated ours. DS1 fell out of it and I am not going to use it for DS2.

muppetgirl · 23/01/2009 19:03

came to them late with ds 2 but it was fab whilst he wasn't to big for it. Are expensive and still expensive second hand off ebay.

naswm · 23/01/2009 19:04

fell out?! gosh I have never heard of that - they are supposed to grip the legs to prevent exacly that I am sorry for your DS Kayzr

Marthasmama · 23/01/2009 19:07

My DS used to go rigid and roll himself out of his and my DD (15 weeks now) tried the same thing when we put her in his old one. She HATES it! I have annoyingly wiley and grumpy kids.

Haylstones · 23/01/2009 19:08

Don't buy one if your dcis bigger than average. I bought one when my ds was 5 months and it cut the circulation off so much that his legs turned purple Admittedly he is a bit chubby but it was the biggest waste of £30 ever. I'm going to sell mine on Ebay as he only sat in it twice and we're not planning any more.
They sell them in Argos btw

Zaftig · 23/01/2009 19:09

I got mine from Boots - lots of points!

DS3 loved it. It was great to sit him in while I fed him (he used to slump in his high chair).

kayzr · 23/01/2009 19:13

Yeah, it said on the box "impossible to fall out off"

Lotster · 23/01/2009 19:13

Had some friends who loved theirs, albeit for quite a short time, I was wondering about getting one for my second baby..

Although I wonder if it's good for the spines of babies who can't sit up by themselves, maybe they don't sit up at that age because they're not supposed to?

LiberalIdleOlogy · 23/01/2009 19:21

Yes, that happened with us too Haylstones. I thought it was his mahoosive nappies, but probably just the chubby thighs to blame.

2pt4kids · 23/01/2009 19:21

DS1 was a bit chubby and hated it, he looked a bit squashed too!
DS2 LOVED it and sat in it loads until he could sit up.
If you have a child that likes it, they are fantastic.
Could you try your lo in a friends seat first? or try it out in Mothercare?

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 23/01/2009 19:23

We didn't get much use out of ours, DS wasn't too keen and looked like he would be able to get out of it, he sort of used his legs and back to push his bum out, or he would just shout until we took him out. But some other babies I know liked them... At least we got ours second-hand so didn't pay too much for it.

Haylstones · 23/01/2009 19:24

Definitely the chubby thighs to blame in our case

ohdearwhatamess · 23/01/2009 19:28

Mixed results here.

Ds1 loved it, used it a lot from about 4-7 months.

Ds2 hated it. Would arch his back and try to flip backwards to get out of it (accompanied by much screaming). He never actually sat in it for more than 2 minutes.

Worth trying your local paper. Ours always has second-hand ones for sale very cheaply.

moocowme · 23/01/2009 20:38

i found Ds legs to chubby after about 4months old. it was ok for a little while as it helped my back so i did not have to hold him all the time. What worked for me was a foam seat i made. went to D Mill and bought a few cheap pieces of foam and cut out a piece the same shape as DS's bum then sewed a cover onto it. worked brilliant and DS sat quite well in it until he could sit up on his own without the occasional fall. he could also play with his toys and blocks on the floor much better with his foam cushion.

chancelloroftheexchequers · 23/01/2009 20:42

DD loves it, but she loves to sit up.

She won't be in it for long though, she's a pretty big 5 month old.

pushchair · 23/01/2009 20:54

My DD was slim and v.active and just used to lean forward and roll out of hers. She never ever actually sat in it and again I would say a waste of £30. We gave ours to charity shop.

beforesunrise · 23/01/2009 20:59

it really depends on your child. dd1 was in it for about 6 weeks, before she got completely fed up with sitting still and started crawling (at 7m) and would scream her head off (and arch her back dangerously to try and escape). so i sold mine on ebay.

dd2 (now 8 1/2m) loves sitting up and shows no inclination whatsoever to crawl or go places, and while i could just plonk her anywhere, i am glad we borrowed a bumbo from our neighbour as i put her in it while i shower/dress dd1 or generally need to be certain she can't get up to any mischief or fall over, and she is really quite happy in it for half an hour at a time.

swingsofglory · 23/01/2009 21:00

My DD loved hers and we used it for ages from about 4 - 10months just cos it was really handy. She's quite small and slim though, so no chunky thigh problem here.

Ceebee74 · 23/01/2009 21:05

DS1 loved it - they used them at his nursery aswell and I remember going to pick him up when he was about 7 months old, and he was sat in it with his back to me while the older children were running round popping bubbles - he loved the fact he could be upright and 'join' in.

Am planning on using it for DS2 in a couple of months - particularly now as they do play trays (Argos have them) so we can use it for toys and finger food

ilovemydogandMrObama · 23/01/2009 21:08

DS loves his -- great when DD has her bath, so he just sits there and laughs at watches her

MERLYPUSS · 23/01/2009 21:44

My DT1 was a fat little git and his legs didn't fit without forcing whereas DT2 used to rattle about in it. I took mine back and borrowed a pink one (oh the shame, prob'ly scar the boy for life)for a couple of weeks from neighbour.

bessmum · 23/01/2009 22:25

DD loved it, used it for months, bought off eBay. Did try one out at a friend's house first as I'd heard that not all babies like them, as this thread proves!
