Just wondering really. I kind of co sleep with 7mo dd and this week she has been breathing fast on and off and crying in her sleep.

Could she be having bad dreams??

I certainly think my DD does. They have look at babie's brains and they definitely dream (even in the womb!) so it makes sense that they would have good and bad dreams, doesn't it? I would love to know what she dreams about...

Me too. I wonder what she dreams about to cry in her sleep.

One of the cutest things is when toddlers are able for the first time to tell you what they have dreamed about. It can be pretty full on!

I cant wait for that x

I am absolutely convinced that dd2 had bad dreams from being tiny.

My DD used to cry out 'MUMMY' at a bit older than this (it was the only word she could say). I think they are meant to start dreaming from about six months onwards, from what I remember.

I was just wondering the same. Ds (7 months) has just woken up screaming, poor baby. I think he does, I wonder what about though.

I think that they dream from birth.

lauraloola · 16/01/2009 23:26

I wonder how people find that out??

O goodness yes! DS2 has been a noisy sleeper from a few weeks old. He's 14 months now and has even had a couple of night terrors, first one when he was about 8 months old

You can tell when someone is dreaming as opposed to deep sleeping by the movement of their eyes (rapid eye movement - REM) and they also have characteristic brain waves (similar to awake ones).
