Just intersted to get a wider perspective as dd1 seems ahead of her friends in all areas from speech to understanding of the world and initiative, logic and maths etc

DD2 is 3 in a week and is far more advanced than DD1 this is because in part she thinks she is the same age as DD1 and copies her in everything so I think sometimes having an older sibling close in age definitely makes a difference.

For instance, DD1 has been learning to write her name so DD2 wants to write hers which she can do.
She can count to 20 easily
Knows right from left
Has very good speech and can hold a conversation quite happily
Has been able to draw faces from 2.2y, now can draw the whole family bodies and all and simple animals
Knows shapes and colours
Great imaginative play but again due to DD1
Keeps asking me about letters
Can recognise basic words, the other day said Mummy Tesco's when she say it written down (not the logo)

Would start an argument in an empty room
Refuses to be told off
Winds her sister up constantly
Very willful will do nothing she doesn't want to do
Has about 3 mega tantrums a day
Extremely possessive of her baby sister

Yes I think your DD sounds very clever dilly. But I am sure you already knew that.

Next time you feel upset about something, just remember how luck you are.

wrinklytum said it all. As long as we can get that hug, who cares whether your 3yo can count to 100?! IME children who have an academic aptitude often lack other skills. Mostly it evens out in the end. Just enjoy your DCs while they can't talk/read/write count. I kind of miss "Father Missmass" and will certainly be sad when DDs don't think that tuppence is a fortune!
