Sleep issue: DD 14wks won't sleep in her crib, Moses basket too small!

Dear Mums, please advise me on the following issue:

my dd is 14wks old and has nearly outgrown her Moses basket, yet she refuses to sleep in her crib.

I am at a loss at what to do. I placed her in there and she frets and then proceeds to scream her head off.

I tried placing the moses basket in the crib to get her used to the environment, - no such luck.

I tried cot bumpers (on outside behind the sticks with binders outside) and no bumpers, doesn't make a fricking difference. I'm battleworn.

How can I get her to sleep in her bed?? Please help!!

Try putting her in there for very short periods eg just while you clear up after changing her nappy. Also how about a mobile or something similar to take her minf off where she is. Can you try getting her to sleep first then putting her in it so that she gets used to waking up there.

Seeline, thanks for the tip. We've done the mobile thing (very enthusiastic, but no sleep).

I will try to move her into cot when she's asleep during the day. I'm stressed to bits and just so drained every evening (read cannot cope with fussing baby).

Ahh, anyone else got good ideas? Experiences? I cannot be the only one with this issue...or maybe I am...

Stuff a muslin in your bra and give it her as a comforter. Hopefully she will smell you on it and it will soothe her. Or have you tried holding her hand, stroking, shushing, patting, gently singing and talking to her to comfort her whilst she's in the cot until she falls asleep?

Have you tried a rain shaker thingy? I had to stand and shake one for ages to start with but slowly I was able to decrease the time spent doing this.....

(oh gad, casting mind back to pain and agony of tiny babies and I am having another in 3 weeks! Why oh why!)

Hi nappyaddict, a snuggle blanky? Good idea. Will start 'making' one today. Thank you! I have tried stroking, shushing, patting, but she just continues wailing and ges really red in the face, a total anger cry. Will try the soother.

hambo: rain shaker thing? What is that? Must google and find out. We have something called nature sounds with thunder/rainstorm sound, etc.ould try that. Thank you!

Have you tried swaddling her? Maybe the difference of space in her cot & bassinet are worrying her, swaddling her will make her feel more 'enclosed'

DS had one of these the white noise was very good for soothing him and i used to put the silkie in my bra and give it him as a comforter. I bought some extra silkies off ebay so i could use them in rotation.
