Effects of teething?

My DS has been an okay sleeper ( 1 or 2 times per night) for a couple of months, but last week got two teeth at 19 weeks! He also got a cold ( I'm still BF) and his sleep has been destroyed, up every hour. I let him sleep with us becasue he was coughing and choking so much, but now he will NOT sleep in his cot at ALL. We're 7 nights with no sleep, the teeth are in, the cold is passing, but he is still traumatised by going to sleep AND waking up in his cot. PS Also rubs his head a bit too at the side could be just a tried tiredness thing though.....so any ideas???

get his ears checked quite common to get ear infection after a cold as a baby or even from the teething so first thing is get that checked

second your ds has been used to company so you may need to sit beside his cot until he goes off and gets used to being alone again

also even now my ds is 3.7 takes good week or two for him to recover properly from illness so make sure at bedtime bit of bonjela keep it all calm no talking just calming noises and sit beside cot so he can see you when going to sleep

hope he settles again soon its very tiring if you can sleep when he does in the day it'll help you alot

Can any one help!!!
My 5month old has always been hungry through the night usually has 3 feeds but has always on the whole been able to settle!
The last 3 nights have been new territory he has been restless since his second feed kicking and groaning for 2 hours last night. When I picked him up he was a whole lot happier being awake and busy eating both his hands and mine!
Any advice out there, if it is his gums can I do anything?
I am getting no sleep rather than very little and getting up too early most mornings worried it wont stop !!??

Thank you

put some bonjela on his gums before putting to bed maybe try doing a dream feed before normal waking time when you go to bed and may be content enough to sleep through i always dream fed if i could as the older he got the more alert he was when awake and wouldnt settle back off

if awake and happy playing about i would put small toy in teething toy or rattle to play with and leave him to settle himself off its great for them to learn to settle back my ds was happy enough chewing teether and playing and i would leave him to it and pay no attention he learnt it wasn't time to play with mummy and would easily fall back to sleep when ready

Checking for a n ear infection is a good idea but teeth are a NIGHTMARE with DD and the first ones were absolutely the worst. Three sleepless (waking every 40 to 90 mins)weeks I kid you not.

Calpol and nurofen, to the stated dose and two hours apart from EACH OTHER was the only thing that offered any help, and it wasn't much.

I think it just helps to know that some children do get it really bad. I just wasn't prepared for it and had no real idea what was going on. But yes, it can be that bad.

Thought I would just feed back on last night !

He went down at 7 as normal dream fed at 10.30 but he swiftly brought most of the feed back up so we had a little cuddle for half hour as he was wide awake he resettled and then woke again at 2 took time to settle but did
5 am came fed him but then was awake !! Another early morning but a better night...

Thanks again
