DD is almost 10mths and already has her bottom two. These came with no problems whatsoever, in fact she only cried when they actually came through and only for a very short time. Now the top two are coming and is defo effecting her more. If she bangs her top gum on a top she crys ALOT, for the last 24 hours will not even let me look at the top gum let alone put gel on. She's jusy been screaming after being asleep for half an hour and have given teetha granuals, tried to apply gel, given a dummy (nrmally a thumbsucker but likes sometimes) and a big snuggly, cuddle to sleep and she has , fingers crossed , gone back off.

So any advice would be gratfully received. tia

Calprofen. Marvelous stuff. You can also use it in conjuntion with Calpol if things get really bad (ask your pharmacist/doctor about how to do that, I can't remember the rules off the top of my head).

And don't feel guilty/bad about using pain relief, (you may not, but I know from personal experience that it's possible to... don't ask me why... ) - just think what you'd do if you had toothache.

My DD had a hell of a time as she got all 4 top teeth at once... she was miserable for weeks, poor love.

Ashtons and parsons powders good for calming the nerves as well.

You may also find you need to go back to quite smooth food (if she's normall eating chunkier textures). DD just wanted Ella's pouches... so an expensive time all round

p.s. And my DD has just started teething really badly again, so I'm with you all the way, unfortunately

Oh yes, it's HEAPS of fun, isn't it?

Calprofen is just basically baby Ibuprofen and works particularly well for teething because it's an anti-inflamatory, so calms down the swollen gums and soreness better than Paracetamol (Calpol).

We've foudn that when she's really bad nothing else touches it. Bweare though, DD was teething for AGES with those top ones before they actually made an appearance.

Early nights V good idea IMHO...

Agree with designerbaby calprofen is really good for teething, settles my DD down and shes been teething for what feels like forever! She has just cut her 8th tooth(!) and shes nearly 14 months, didnt cut her first until 7 months so shes had a hard time. I think the top teeth might be harder to cut through for some reason, took DD ages for hers to cut through. Hope she (and you) get some relief soon.

Thanks keels, think your right the first two i didn't even know they were coming till she cried whilst eating her dinner and they were there!!!
