... is this normal? He used to eat anything and everything with gusto, now he only eats plain meat/veg/fish.
I don't like him going without at this age, but it is difficult to think of meals as a 'plan B'. I am cooking him some pasta now, but sometimes I resort to cereal. Finding it a bit stressful, when I have spent ages cooking him something, for him to spit it out. I know he doesn't know that, but I hate seeing food go to waste too. Sorry am venting here, so he doesn't see my annoyance.

What do you give if they don't eat? Or is he starting to learn that if he doesn't eat something, he gets something else? Or is he too young for that?
Thanks

and i say he only eats those 3 things, but he only eats carrots/potatoes/peas/sweetcorn/root veg not all veg, no green veg (which i can understand as it has a more bitter taste).
i know this isn't a major problem, but i wondered if anyone had any advice?
before i resort to opening up ready brek ... hardly a nutritious tea!?

Hi,
I'm sorry, no helpful advice whatsoever, but just to say I'm in exactly the same boat with my own 15mo ds. He used to love everything I cooked for him then suddenly - completely out of the blue - seemed to turn his nose up at practically everything. Your ds will eat plain meat, veg and fish you say, so I'd take some comfort from that, its all quite nutritious. Mine will only consider Weetabix, Petit Filous, and HIPP Organic tomato pasta .
I'll be watching your thread for any helpful advice, while hoping they grow out of it!
Good luck!

It's a phase. Called 'Learning to Assert Yourself in the Only Area You Can When You're a Toddler'.

At that age all my DD1 would eat was yoghurt and breadsticks. Honestly.

Lasted about a month and then she realised it was bloody boring and started eating well again!

Just keep offering, and if you get too cheesed off just give them what you'll know they eat. Saves a lot of aggro and stress

My DD started mucking about as well about this age...it turned out it was independence she wanted...if I disappeared and left her to it (mess and all) she ate much better than with my constant supervision / help.

she's 19 months now, and I'm usually "around" (or eating my own breakfast / lunch whatever) but not helping, unless she wants me to.

I've also learnt just to let her eat what she wants and not force the issue or get pissed off....it can be very frustrating though.

Mine too!! He's 15 months and just not interested in anything I give him.

and mine - 13 months. it is so annoying. she's ill at the moment and will only eat purees. i feel like i have a 6 month old at meals... she used to eat absolutely everything.
