Crying in her sleep

My dd (aged 22 months) cries out in her sleep. It is very annoying because she sleeps in with us (I know "building a rod...blah blah..." and keeps waking me and my husband up. Does anyone have any experience of this? I don't know if she is uncomfortable, having a bad dream, needing cuddles, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. She can't go in her own room yet because its not habitable!

Incidentally - for the first time EVER ds slept in his cot until 6am! I was through a couple of times wondering what was wrong with him! I missed his little face beaming at me in the morning, but could this be a turning point??

My DS has always slept in his own room from 6 weeks old ... mainly because DH and I couldn't get a wink of sleep for all the snuffles etc that he made ... and because I am a GF mum ... AND because DH is against co-sleeping.
BUT ... since we moved to NZ and had pretty much a year of unsettled lifestyle and upheavals (living with in-laws, rented accomodation, in a box room b4 his room was decorated) DS has got into a habit of crawling into our bed at night ... he's hysterical though as he won't sleep between us as 'daddy smells' so he snuggles down at our feet .... it's like having a pet!
DH really disapproves and insists he goes back to his own bed after a bit but I am beginning to quite like it ...... I used to hate waking up alone in the night when I was little and I used to crawl in with my mum when I was as old as 14!!!
Oh and DS has taken after me and talks, cries out, laughs etc often in the night ... sign of a vivid imagination!!
