eating habits of a dd 5.6 yrs old, should i seek help

my dd doesn't eat very much (main meals) and hasn't for along while. this all started after i became ill (severe DVT) after having our 2nd dd 3.6yrs ago, up until then she was eating a wide range of things and was not fussy. my dh had to look out to both of them when i was in hospital for two weeks so meals & routine went out of the window abit and when i came home he was looking after me as well.

Anyway after all that time she is still the same, we all sit down to eat in the evening and we all have the same meals,i have been doing this for nearly 3yrs now and nothing has change, When we highlighted this before with a health visitor, she said as long as she has got energy and not tired all the time she is getting enough and to keep putting the food in front of her. i've done all the things they suggest.

She eats all sorts of pasta in various sauce, sausages, bits of bacon in the pasta, no potatoes, veg or meats.

Any suggestions or should i seek some professional help.

I think, after 3 years, some professional suggestions might be helpful and reassuring, Looby.

My absolute fave for sneaking the good stuff in, is smooth soup. Cram with Veg and puree til smooth. Let her dip bread into it (I know, I know but it's not illegal - the police won't come). She might not finish it but at least some nutrients will slide in!

As for fruit, make some icecream smoothies and chuck in some fresh strawberries etc. Tell her it's a milkshake!

Can you make the pasta sauce with lots of veg in it and puree so she can't identify them? What about breads and cereals? Any fruit? I would've thought pasta, sausage and a sauce with some veg pureed in it (carrot, pepper etc) would be a pretty balanced diet ... although very frustrating for you.

It might be something to do with your DVT/hospital stay/new baby but it could very easily be totally coincidental. She would have been about 2 at that time? Prime age for suddenly exerting independence on stuff like this IME. At around that age DD1 declared she wouldn't wear trousers and has only just started again at age 6.
