Oh dear, I've got a climber...

dd2 is 18 months and has started climbing ALL THE TIME- gah!

I turn my back and she's perched on the window sill. I left the strairgate open (stupidly) and she climbed half way up the stairs, then fell whilst trying to navigate her way back down.

She climbs on chairs to get onto the table...

Any advice? Let her carry on and risk injury? I've told her firmly 'no'- she laughs at me

My sons are both like this. Am amazed that Ds1 didn't break anything. Ds2 is 8mnts old and has already started climbing up the side of his baby walker and peoples legs. He also climbs the side of the hoover and tries to eat the pipe.

Oh dear- so what do/did you do?

DS2 is like that. I showed him very early on how to get off the sofa, climb down the stairs, off the bed, piano bench, etc. He is now 20 months and today, I turned around for 5 minutes and he managed to climb all the way on the kitchen table. The truth is you can't be with her every second of every day, so I found that showing him how to get out of trouble was the best way. Also, I am quite firm and say NO very loudly when he pushes the boundaries (ie kitchen table incident.)

Good luck

ds2 is a born climber too - loves the stairs the most. Teach your dd to come down safely (on tummy). As I've got other dc can't constantly watch him so do give him some space. He's begining to learn his limits.

My LO's also found it hystericly funny when I told them no in the early stages of climbing. I had to remove the worst offenders (low chairs, coffee table etc) and try and make the house as safe as possible.

Oh yes abd make absolutely sure that furniture like bookcases and tall units are attached to the wall. Including TV stand.

My DD is a climber too! She recently managed to climb on top of the (very narrow) fireplace whilst I was changing DS2's nappy. I really cannot leave her for a second.

No advice sorry, but hope that someone is along with words of wisdom, or something for my nerves!
