She is out of sorts, her sleep is up the spout as a result of jetleg, she went to bed at 8pm last night, but actually had a nap! Woke 2 hours later, up until 3-30am-4am or so. Went to sleep, woke up at 11am, crabby as a crab stick all day, she wont eat, is drinking tons and tons and tons of milk (2 pints in last 24 hours), keeps falling over, just wants to sleep. We can't let her sleep more (she had an hour nap, we woke her half hour ago) as we need to get her sleep back on track, poor love, the only place she is settling is in our suitcase, and she is crying, wanting milk.

She just seems very miserable today, not her usual happy self. When she is not miserable, she is manic and running around. We went to sainsburys for lunch, she tipped DHs hot tea pot and poured in into my coffee cup - she never touches hot stuff, she knows not to, (and it was not in her reach, she stood up on the chair to lean over the table and get at it) and she did it with that manic, you cant stop me type of look in her eye, then chucked her drink on the floor, and ran off laughing! .

It has been a fucking shit day today. But I have kept calm and not shown. Maybe she can sense it anyway, combined with everything else. Today I would quite like family near us, so they can help a bit.

Well that's over 3hrs out - that's a reasonable enough break imo. Ok, he may not do anything different to you but I've found its so much worse when you are coping on your own. DS has been up late while I've been staying with mum and its been fine as company, help with him but if was back home alone, I'd be desperate for him to be back into routine. You are sleep deprived too - not helping. Can you put a dvd into the laptop and watch it with her and maybe she will fall asleep with that?

Really wish could zoom over to you! If I had my car with me, I prob would!

MrsClausinJimmyChoos · 02/01/2009 22:32

I've got to go as I think the light from the screen is bothering DS (pc in the bedroom here) but text me if you want to rant

Take care Pav and hugs XXXX

pavlovthecat · 02/01/2009 22:36

Jimmy thanks hun, same to you...we could put both the kids in front of the tele and drink a hot cocoa and natter! DH has the car, so I cant come to you either! [grr]

She is now up and I am about to put My Neighbour Totoro on for her again. I am tempted to get the suitcase out for her to settle in, like a dog! She is currently playing with her 'castle' and wants to where her fairy princess dress . She is not going to fall asleep in front of the tv, but I might!

Oh and when she was crying 'oooow oooow ooooow oooow' at first she was trying it on, as I went to check, then it continued and when I went in to check after a while, she had actually got a splinter in her foot from where she had smacked a toy against the door frame, and then kicked it with her feet! Poor thig, was very upset! Hence why she is now up.

DD just came up to me all worried and said 'pavlov (yes she used my real name!), whats matter pavlov, you worried, you lost dad? you lost dad? don't worry' and took my head and cuddled it how sweet!

And now she is saving a 'little girl' princess from a pirate.

Well, it is 11:37pm and she is not asleep. Daddy is reading her another story.

She went to sleep at 00:30-1am last night, woke at 9am, had 1 hour sleep max today, and WILL NOT go to sleep. She gets sleepy, cuddles for story and bottom taps (which she insists on!) then says she needs a wee or more often now that she is going to be sick. She is quite insistent she is going to be sick, and tries to force herself to go to sleep. Then she is awake again and says she does not want to go to sleep. She is currently really really really upset.

Any ideas? Please? [desperate emoticon]

Oh well, guess its not quite as interesting as the whole moldies thingy bob!

She screamed herself to sleep, so thats a way I guess. I suspect she is now asleep on upturned teddies on her floor. We will pick her up later.

(and I got the time wrong when I posted, I started writing at 11:17, not 11:37pm, doh!)

Jimmy - its not looking good! Her routine is shot to pieces! She went to sleep at 11:45pm (about same as your DS, almost!) woke at 4am, really upset, did not want to sleep in her bed, wanted for me to hold her like a baby, and fell asleep, I was able then to put her into her bed, and she woke asking for milk, went back to sleep for hour, woke up, and refused to go back to bed 'i dont want DD bed, I want floor' She cried so much, I put some pillows on the floor for her to lay on, her pilow for head, covered her in her blanket and she went straight to sleep and woke up at 10:10am, saying she was sleepy and wanted the suitcase, where she snuggled for another hour! Unfortunately I was so tired I did not get up before her as I was going to get her up at 8am to try and get her routine back (and mine - back to work tomorrow )

So, so far, she was fine in our bed, now not, she is fine in the suitcase from our trip and will sleep on the floor, but not in her own bed strange.

How is DS in the mornings? Is he sleeping later? Is he napping ok?

How are you Jimmy?

I'm doing better thanks - had a nice text from DH this am saying he was going to the airline tomorrow to change his ticket and he will let me know asap when he will be back. I've checked on line and there are flights Fri and Sun so am really really hoping he goes for the Friday one and there are seats as am missing him a lot now. He's still not texting much during the day, but I've backed off on my mum's advice and just leaving him to it and not texting until he texts first - blokes are so weird with communiation..I feel like I'm dating a new bloke and trying to prove am not a bunny boiler!! lol

DS's naps are a bit out of whack due to all the people in and out but he's still having a nap in the day, just later. I think he will be back to normal when back at nursery though as its an early start and a very busy day for him. I think will be the same for your DD too maybe?

I am sending you virtual choc - I know how it is when they don't cooperate -you want to tear your hair out!!

PavlovtheCat · 04/01/2009 22:21

Hey.

I eating the virtual choc as we speak!

Great news about DH coming home early, hope he get flight on friday. Bet DS is missing him loads too.

Currently, DD is in her room crying her absolute little heart out. It is tearing me apart. I have never heard her this distressed and I just do not know what to do.

She woke at 10am this morning, had a 40 min nap on way to friends house, in the car, ran around for hours with a friend's little one and unfortunately fell asleep in the car for 20 mins on way home at 8pm. She said she was tired, and we tried to put her to bed, not having any of it, screamed the place down. DH and I agreed that it might better to get her routine back on track time wise and then into her own room again, so we agreed with her she could sleep in our bed. She isexausted. We went to bed, and she said 'no sleepy' and got herself up. She seems to be on some kind of overdrive and just will not shut down.

Anyway, as we said to her, as she was not settling, back to her bed. I read her 8 stories and finally got her to lay in her bed, she closed her eyes, and I cuddled her, she slowly started to doze off. So i left her, quiet for 10 mins, and I thought I had cracked it. But no, she then woke up, said she does not want to sleep. I tried to settle her and now I am ignoring her (well, clearly not ignoring her, but attempting to!). She is absolutely tearing her room apart and is acting like I have left her in America on her own or something.

I just do not know what to do. And, I have to go to work tomorrow for 10 hours.

We have really messed her up.

Hiya Pav

Still no news re flight from DH...waited all day to hear from him. Finally text him at 6.30pm his time and he text back that there was a queue to change tickets and he won't know until tomorrow (i.e today).

Its now 5pm their time now and I still haven't heard...I suspect he DIDNT go to the airline yest and was fobbing me off but I have no way of telling. Am very cheesed off -he's been very uncommunicative - very short texts, I can go all day without hearing from him - eg today I've heard nothing - not even a good morning text. I could cry thinking about it really...its as if DS and I don't exist when he's with his family and I'm starting to get very resentful now. I am fully aware he's lost his mum but you know, a text only takes 2 mins max...ugh...

Anyway, just wanted to reassure you that you haven't done anything wrong with DD - its the jet lag and her routine just out of whack that's all. Also, toddlers are masters at acting out to get what they want ie to sleep in the big bed with you and DH or to get to stay up later etc. DS is doing it loads but with different stuff - i.e I have to bribe him with a babybel to get him to lie down for a nappy change. He also whinges like mad for story after story in the evening - even when you have done two or three - they know how to play it! I think they learn that crying gets them what they want and they use it to the full!!

I had DS yelling today - he wouldn't eat his breakfast..I took it off him and he yelled for it back. Gave it back and he played with it. Did this a few times and then said right, you don't want it, its going in the bin. He started to cry. Normally I'd cave and not put it in the bin, but this time I did - he needs to learn that his actions have consequences. Its very draining though but take comfort in fact that you aren't alone - we all have our struggles - albeit with different things.

Sending positive getting into routine vibes!!

Puss
