At what age do children recognise when they're too hot/cold?

DD is a bright 16 months and is becoming uncomfortable in her grow bag, enough to cause night wakings as it's been pulled off/twisted around etc.

I have a duvet for her cot and i'd like to teach her to use it, I will have a "lesson" with her where we will be on the floor with quilts to show her how to cover herself up etc, to make sure she is physically able to do it first, but I am concerned that she will wake up too hot/cold and won't know why she is uncomfortable, so will be unable to do anything about it.

Am I worrying over nothing?! Please help me understand my baby

Thanks

my 2 have never had grobags and have always been fine with blankets, and then a duvet.

don't wory about it!

I bought DS a quilt when he turned 1 as he was waking frequently in his grobag. I'd often go upstairs to find that he'd kicked off the quilt. If he felt cold, I'd put it back on. If felt warm, I'd cover him in a blanket instead.

Surely she doesn't need to learn hot and cold? She hasn't got this luxury in the grobag, after all. I'm sure it'll be fine, don't worry.

Judging by DD's habit of going out without a coat, even in this weather, I'd say at not by the age of 18.....

Grobags hadn't been invented when my two were little, so they're not actually indispensable

I think about the age of 25, given the queue outside most nightclubs in winter.

my dd is nearly two and occasionally kicks the duvet or blankets off. She definately understands that she is cold, but in the middle of the night in a half sleep state, she calls for me. Doesnt happen that often and I always tuck the blankets right under the mattress sides to help prevent it.

My boys are 9 and 11. I often catch them shivering in a T-shirt and bare feet, and I have to remind them that they could put on jumpers and socks if they are cold
