Ds is 26 mths his a lovely funny little boy but has started becoming quite shy and reserved.

At nursery they tell me has been quite tearful throughout the day where as all the comments were that he was always happy and smiling.

When we go out to meet up with friends he is quite clingy to me.

What can I do to help him or is this just phase.

Thanks

Hi Lemonadegirl
Have you asked the staff in nursery if there might be anything that could have happend or if any of the others are picking on him?
I also might just be that he has started to notice his suroundings a little better and how people react to his actions, this might be making him feel a little insecure around other people.
My ds was like this also around this age and still is (he's 4)- I worried terribly about him. But now I don't find it a bad thing as his 'reserverd' nature actually attracts lots of his peers...I surpose they find him 'easy to get on with' and is sort of 'looked up to' (according to his teachers) because he is confident enough to take himself away from any 'disruptive/naughty goings on' in the class. There is a fine line between shyness and lack of confidence and I think it can be very difficult to tell the differnce at this age.

Sorry I don't have any good advice!

Thanks for your reply
I sopke to his key worker who seemed a bit concerned over his change though she was interested in his home life, which has not changed. I did wonder at the other children as the ones he recognised have left and he now only goes one day a week.

Thanks for your positive story
