What is the normal range of ages for separation anxiety to begin?

My 9 month old shows absolutely no signs of separation anxiety. While many people think this is wonderful, I do not! To me separation anxiety is a normal part of development and a sign of a healthy mother-baby bond. I know there is a range of typical ages in which separation anxiety shows itself, but everything I read says it should be happening now. Anyone got experience of this happening later? If so, when, and what is 'normal' in your experience?

Current baby i care for is 9.5m and isnt fussed if mummy or i leave her with someone else, she is tho eager to return to us when we appear, ie holding out arms to be lifted from that person to us but no tears.

12-18 months is the biggest time i have found.

That is certainly true of her brother, he still has momentary tears at 21 months.

DD is 15 months although she is a very confident independent scamp she has in the last 2-3 months become more clingy.
