I'm making a statement here but I firmly believe that children who are wallowing in toys/mess/rubbish are not happy ones!!

I think there's probably a happy medium. Not so tidy that you're scared to touch anything but not so messy that you can't find space to play and a whole set of something to play with.

SoupDragon · 21/03/2005 15:19

Sadly mine is at the latter end of my scale.

CD, would you like to come and tidy up for me every hour?

dropinthe · 21/03/2005 15:19

Countess-a cleaner??? You lucky bugger!! Mines at work all day!!

CountessDracula · 21/03/2005 15:21

SoupDragon · 21/03/2005 15:21

I can envisage you trailing round after your DD picking up things as soon as she stops touching them

CountessDracula · 21/03/2005 15:22

HAHAHA!!! I must show dh this thread he thinks I am slob of the century (mind you he can talk)

CountessDracula · 21/03/2005 15:23

NO I DO NOT!

my whole garden is covered with her tea set which she was playing with on saturday - it's only the living room I tidy

unicorn · 21/03/2005 15:23

unicorn · 21/03/2005 15:23

I just worry that the toys are definitively invading the house, I don't have more space to hide them away, I clear up everything and still there's a big car or a horse making an art statement in the living room. I am trying to see them as sculptures but definitively it doesn't work

What do you do with the excess toys? I'm not keen in reducing our living space/spending lots of money in more storage solutions for things that TBH are not worth the expense...

Countess-has the chambermaid plumped up your pillows??

Chandra · 21/03/2005 15:39

Sadly all my artistic efforts that years ago were displayed in galleries are now focused in Easter hat and the likes. I have been wondering if I should paint the b*y little tikes horse in a style similar to those painted cows that are sold in the museum shops... derpressing really...

elliott · 21/03/2005 15:39

I tend to tidy before lunch and at bedtime. Problem is ds1's playing style basically revolves around using any small toys or parts of toys and putting them in his digger/making a den and hiding them there/making them into 'stew'/ etc etc. So lots of things are out at once, none of them being played with in the way they were designed to be (so sheep become cooking ingredients, cars become 'coal' in the train tender....) Its a bit of a pain because lots of things get lost or transported to strange corners of the house but I've given up trying to prevent it.

mummytosteven · 21/03/2005 15:40

rofl chandra at the idea of you starting a new series of painted kids toys like the horse parade/cow parade

dropinthe · 21/03/2005 15:42

I'm not obsessive-already said tidied playroom is a mess again but I will just pick things off the floor of the living room to try and keep it "our" space as best!(to do what in Im not sure-I hardly ever see Dh to do "our" stuff anyway).
