is it usual for a 2.3 yo to be REALLY clumsy?

i'm not the most graceful person but my dd seems to be really clumsy.she always drops/spills things and I am forever cleaning up after her. She is covered in bruises on her legs where she trips over. She is a very 'busy' child, always enthusiastic about things; am i right to assume she is so busy doing things that she doesnt think of the consequences i.e - dropping things, falling over etc, or should i be worried?

This is normal - very much so. I'd say most of the two-year-olds I know look like dalmations, with all the bruises!

They just aren't coordinated or focussed enough - it'll come.

ds is 2.2yo. So far today he has fallen off the bed 3 times (although one was an attempted gymnastic forward dive that went wrong). Stood in the dog's water bowl and then slipped over in wet socks. Shut his hand in a drawer. Dropped breakfast a few times. Misjudged leap from table to sofa and head-butted wall. Banged nose on floor (not quite sure how this happened). Sat down heavily on a bit of lego and bruised bottom.

We keep on of those cold things in the fridge to put on bumps and bruises - problem is it is never in there long enough to get cold...it is useful in identifying which part of anatomy is injured though as squawking child clutches it to themself.

So, um, yes, all normal I would say!

dilbertina - thank you for cheering me up! especially the dog bowl!!
so, she's totally normal in this sense then!
