2.11 year old is bedtime shocker!

Ok, it's not much of a shock, but it is to me...

My 2y 11mths old ds always been a great sleeper and happily went to bed. Just recently, though, he has started flipping out at bedtime - started with resisting his bath, and now is full blown screaming until he falls asleep. It only lasts ten minutes and then he's asleep (or at least quiet), but it's a crappy way to end the day.

We have a well-established bedtime routine, calm and predictable. He's been in his big boy's bed for ages. He no longer naps during the day, and hasn't for a while. We try to always get him to bed when he's tired but not over-tired - around 7-7.30pm.

Assuming it's fear of the dark/night terrors we have given him a dim night light that we leave on all night, we have eliminated any stories with lions/crocodiles/monsters - anything scary or exciting.

We're going to try the whole 'I'll be back in ten minutes thing' and have also just starting putting on a CD with a couple of soft lullabies for him to listen to after we've gone.

Sounds a bit fussy - what approach to take...
Any ideas?

My dd is the same age
sounds like you are doing everything absolutely spot-on to me.
Am over what causes these things, and as confused over why they miraculously disappear just as suddenly as they started.
In your shoes I'd keep on doing everything just as you ARE - and pay as little attention as poss to the screaming. much easier said than done i know
