DD2 does

Eg "Mummy, me have raisins please"

"yes, let me just finish washing up"

"Me have raisins please"

"Yes, just finishing the washing up, dd2"

"Me have raisins"

"In a minute"

"Me have raisins"

Etc, Etc, Etc

Drives me NUTS! She does it ALL the time! She can understand/hear, I know that... just curious if anyone else's dc do this as I can't remember dd1 doing this

All the time. It's on her job description.

CharleeInChains · 18/11/2008 13:57

Yes DS2 does this all the time.

sammybeth · 18/11/2008 13:57

My ds age 2.4 does this all the time and it drives me mad too!!

Thomcat · 18/11/2008 13:58

PS - SHe's 3 at Xmas and still doing it. Enjoy
Oh and my DD who is 7 at Xmas, but has SN's does it too! Double the fun.
Can't wait for DD3 to join in. At the moment she just says 'Mama' on a fast repeat.

Beauregard · 18/11/2008 13:59

ANTagony · 18/11/2008 13:59

oh yes. 20mo DD is the same as sockmonster's, and sadly so is DH!

why he hasn't realised that a quick "yes, dear"/"lovely"/"mmm-hmm"/"that's right" is the key to the off switch I don't know.

notnowbernard · 18/11/2008 14:11

God yes I have the dp that ignores doesn't respond, too

So then she'll move onto DD1 who gets irritated

In the car is a nightmare

"Mummy, look at Teddy"

"I can't, dd2, I'm driving"

"Mummy, look at Teddy"

You get the picture

Thomcat · 18/11/2008 14:15

I get from DD1 -

"Mummy"
me = 'Mmmmmmm'
"Mummy"
Me - "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"
"MUMMY"
and then i rememeber i have to actually say "Yes Cahrlotte" and then she'll speak
"DVD"
"yes okay, just a minute"
"Mummy DVD"
"Yes Charlotte, 2 seconds"
"DVD Mummy"
"yes Cahrlotte DVD, yes, but you have to wait a minute"
"DVD"

and so on.

Gillyan · 18/11/2008 14:18

LOL my nearly 3 yr old repeats herself constantly - it drives me mad!

travellingwilbury · 18/11/2008 14:18

Oh yes I have got another on here too , I have also got the 4 yr old who repeats MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM every few minutes but only 25 % of the time actually has a question to ask me

And people wonder why I drink

ilovespinach · 18/11/2008 14:32

all the time....

and if you don't respond, he just keeps on saying and saing it until you give the right response back (not that I ignore my dc's )

worley · 18/11/2008 14:33

ds2 is forever asking

mummy what you doing?,
what you doing mummy?

then when answered will move to the next person.
pa what you doing?
whay you doing pa? (he refuses to say daddy and calls dp pa)

and will say thankyou if you do something for him over and over again until you answer him and you have to say "your welcome" nothing else will surfice.

TheCrackFox · 18/11/2008 14:38

Don't worry, it will stop eventually.
Sometime around the 18th birthday I have heard.

MDS That sounds about right

I am quite looking forward to the teenage yrs when they sleep a lot and just grunt at me

pluckyducky · 18/11/2008 20:48

Yep. Sounds like normal behaviour to me. My dh is also similar to sockmonster's - he often doesn't respond and ds goes on and on and on and on until he gets a response (fair enough really).

Sometimes I'll put Postman Pat or something similar on to have a few quiet minutes...but of course that work.

"What's happening Mummy?"
"What's happening now?"
"Mummy what's he doing?"
"What's happening Mummy?
"What's happening now?"
"Mummy what's he doing?"
"What's happening Mummy?
"What's happening now?"
"Mummy what's he doing?"

JUST WATCH THE BLOODY THING AND YOU MIGHT WELL FIND OUT WHAT'S HAPPENING!!! Is never the response from me of course!

pluckyducky · 18/11/2008 20:49

Of course that doesn't work

ANGIECOFFEE · 25/11/2008 21:30
