Hi, I was wondering if any of you could help. My DS who was normally a big eater, very unfussy, has suddenly stopped eating. He was a bit poorly last week, and there was a new tooth too, but he's seemingly back on track and back to his usal self health wise, but just won't eat. Today for example, he had 2 mouthfuls of porridge (his fav)and refused anymore. Lunch he refused spag bol, yoghurt, but did eat 4 blueberries, and I'm sure he won't eat his supper either. He's still drinking his milk, and water.....He's not great at feeding himself with a spoon, sometimes he will and sometimes he won't - I've found that if I leave the room (hide around the corner and watch him, but he can't see me) he might have one more spoonful, but that's all. Don't want to offer him a load of alternatives at meal times as don't want to encourage him to be any fussier - any suggestions please? So fed-up of throwing food away!

Boo

Hi Boo, dont worry kiddo, my ds suffered a lot of tooth probs one after the other and it did stop his appetite. Normally a good eater and still is now nearly 4, but occasionally between 1-3 he would go through a couple of days or so of just not fancying anything.

I used to make sure he had water to drink if he wanted it, an icecube in his beaker helped if his gums were sore, but he may also just be coming down with a cold, dont worry, he will eat when he is hungry.

I did very small portions for mine, and tried not to force the issue, it is frustrating throwing away food. One of my sons favorites when he was like this was mash and beans.

good luck and try not to worry if he is well otherwise.
