From the moment I get up ("Can I have some toast please can I have some toast please can I etc etc") to the moment I put him to bed ("Can I have some milk please can I have some supper please can I play computer please etc)

It never ends. ("Awwwwww ^whyyyyyyyeeee!")

Yes, mine does.

She will ask the same question over and over before I have had a chance to answer and it is infuriating.

Winebeforepearls · 03/11/2008 13:55

Yup, tis programmed into their DNA I think - how to get their parents' attention, even if it drives them to an early grave.

at least yours says please

Moosmummie · 03/11/2008 13:58

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"
"No"

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"
"No"

"Pleeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"
"No"

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"
"NO"

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ase?"
"NO"

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"
"GO AWAY right NOW"

Repeat ad nauseum lol

Winebeforepearls · 03/11/2008 13:58

In fact my 3yo does it too, usually at the same time as 5yo, so it's a sort of torturous duet around tea time.

'can I have some bread ...something to eat ... some BREAD ... MUM can I HAVE some BREAD ... etc etc' Blardy hell.

And 2yo is learning from them and just SCREAMS.

Winebeforepearls · 03/11/2008 13:59

'BREAD with BUTTER, MUM can I have it NOW.'

'Bugger off outside NOW'

Nbg · 03/11/2008 14:01

Yes

So so much.
And teenage amateur dramatic behaviour.

PortoTreasonandPlot · 03/11/2008 14:09

Ooh yes Nbg, I am living with Kevin the Teenager - but she is a girl and she is 4.5 ffs.

I hate rainy days when we're stuck indoors because she keeps up a running commentary from the moment she wakes to the moment she sleeps (blessed release). If you don't answer/supply requested item IMMEDIATELY, she just shouts louder.

My standard phrase at the weekend is "in a minute..."

It's exhausting!

Nbg · 03/11/2008 14:15

I am very lucky in that today is first day back at school

This morning I was told that I always upset her.
This was because I gave her a slightly bigger bowl for her cereal

poorbuthappy · 03/11/2008 14:19

Yep - my 4 year old is the same from the minute she gets up to the minute she goes to bed...current favourite is:

Me to her: Mummy is going to bounce on her ball now cos she needs to support her tummy (30 weeks with twins), so once I get it out you can't play with it...

Her to me: ok mummy, I'll do something else instead.

I get the ball out, have approx 2 secs before she comes hurtling over, stands in front of me and nags until I get off...if I don't give in (which I admit I do just to have peace sometimes) I then get hassled by the dog who sits in front of me and paws me until I tickle her stomach...

Can you tell I'm peed off at the moment?

mollythetortoise · 03/11/2008 14:24

my 5 year dd old says "are my teeth clean, are my teeth clean, are my teeth clean" over and over and over after she has given them one brush. So i say no. She gives them one more brush and repeats again.. I have quite high tolerance for whinning but this just drives me insane, it the sing song voice, the fact she knows she's barely brushed her teeth so they are NOT clean and the fact she ALWAYS says it. I can imagine her saying this to me now and it is annoying me already (and there are at least 5 hours to go before I have to hear it

Moosmummie · 03/11/2008 15:44

And I'm not even going to mention the "how many days is it until my birthday?" this starts the day after the last birthday. Once birthday is over :how many days is it till Xmas?" every sodding day and I ALWAYS forget what I said the day before until I say the wrong answer and DS says "no mummy - it's ** number - you said yesterday!" if he already knows whyyyyy does he ask?!

scotlass · 03/11/2008 15:51

Yes! My DD (now 9) has finally learnt however still has a go. Good thing is over next 4yrs if you stick to your guns you can turn round and say - do you think the answer is going to change the twentieth time you ask? Now she says 'no it won't' and changes the subject!

OrmIrian · 03/11/2008 15:52

Yes.

He is very good at it.

meemar · 03/11/2008 15:55

Yes DS1 will ask for things and even when I've already say YES, will still keep asking me /telling me what he wants when I'm already getting it.

I've started saying 'If you ask me again I'll change my mind and say NO'

fondant4000 · 03/11/2008 16:11

Yes! My dd (5.5) Whines and nags "what can I have to eat" from the minute she finishes one meal till the next. Despite being regularly supplied with snacks.

dd2 is also learning and treats me like a foreigner - eg shouts whatever request at me as if I don't understand - "BALLET SHOES ON".

Glad to know I'm not the only one, so glad half term is over

katiek123 · 04/11/2008 21:09

yes yes yes yes yes. driving me UP THE WALL. used to be fairly chilled but has suddenly started flouncing around having strops over tiny issues and being generally rather horrid. in fact i blame horrid henry (with which 5 yr-old DS is obsessed - as with all telly sigh)!!!
