Bl**dy interfering old bat ... am still fuming!

At playgroup this morning DD (13 months) was happily bumshuffling her way around all the toys and chattering away and pointing at things to show anyone who was near her ...
I was looking on but not actually next to her ...
Anyway, this bloody old woman (a granny of a toddler) pointed very rudely at DD and said in a loud voice, "That baby should be crawling!"
I looked at her and said, "No, that baby should be doing exactly as she wants to ... "
So this woman turned to me and said, "It is a known fact that babies who don't crawl will have learning difficulties!!!"
After staring at her in astonishment I said, "I can assure you that there is nothing wrong with MY baby's development and if there was what business is it of yours?"
I spent the rest of playgroup fuming and ended up leaving early ....

Just to add my dd was a bumshuffler and i've had no problems at all with her and she's off to secondary school in Sept.Infact it's my ds who was a crawler who I've had problems with. This statement was from a nasty old bat who has no idea what she's talking about it.

This granny should keep opinions to herself and she had no right to make a comment like that. There is always one and she obviously suffers from the bitter and twisted disdorder. Take no notice of her. larsxx

My ds has learning difficulties and was crawling around the room very nicely at 5 months. How can there possibly be a connection? Silly old bat!

I have been thinking of all sorts of nasty things in the last 24 hours .... my favourite is the old 'mangle' treatment ... ie, my fantasy is that Granny features gets her tits caught in one
No, I am not bitter ... just astonished that she could be so ignorant and rude. And yes, what if I had just been told that DD had SN ... how upsetting would that have been (not the SN, but the ignorant old bat's comments)????
I am going to start an awareness campaign "BumShufflersUnite" or something ... for all our perfect babies that do things differently ... I like the fact that DD is doing something different, what does 'normal' mean anyway, no such thing IMO!

My niece was a bumshuffler and she is 2.2 years now, walking about, can count to 10, knows her colours, can hold full conversations with you, talks better than my 4.9 year old (who does have CP and learning problems) and is as cute as a button!! so tell her to stick her views where the sun don't shine!!

If it makes you feel any better, the lady behind me in line in a store today was fussing at not getting any smiles from DD, and I explained DD has an ear infection and was just not feeling all that happy. The lady then informed me that her DD had lots of ear infections and then turned out to be dyslexic, and the best dyslexia specialist in New York told her that most of his patients had lots of ear infections, they damage the connection between the ear and the brain, and she really wished she'd known sooner.
WTF? Umm, and this is is supposed to be useful to me how?

I have been thinking about this ghosty and do you know what

I think at the next playgroup you should walk up to the old 'dear', smile extremely sweetly and just say

"Hello, lovely to see you. I am sure you don't know this but last week you made a comment about my DD not crawling and said it meant she will have learning difficulties. I really know you didn't mean to do this but you actually really upset and worried me and I've been fretting all week about it. Anyway I just thought I'd let you know that I spoke to our paed and s/he said that crawling is not a developmental stage at all and there is no such link. I just thought you'd like to know in case you feel like saying that to anyone else and they end up with sleepless nights too '

keep smiling sweetly, but say it loudly in front of as many people as possible

if it works then turn round and offer her a cup of tea or something, just so you don't look like the bad guy

or you could finish with marthamoo's comment
