Has anyone else's children started waking up earlier since the clocks went back?

Both of mine (3.4 and 11 mo) have started waking up at a v uncivilised 6am in the last 2 days - usually the older one wakes at around 6.45/7 am and the younger between 7-7.30. DH reckons its the clocks but it hasn't affected friends' children. Really hoping its the clocks and it's just a temporary thing ...

my DD has started getting up at silly-o-clock for the past few days but i am not sure it has much to do with the clocks but more that she has decided it is a good idea to wake early and go to sleep late i dont know but i hope it is a phase cos my sleep deprived brain is not enjoying this one bit!!

5.40am this morning, 5.20 yesterday How long until this stops? They were early risers before the clock change, this is AWFUL!

firsttimemama · 29/10/2008 11:54

yes -my 2.4 dd is full of beans at 6.45am instead of the usual 7:45. Grrrrr

wishingchair · 29/10/2008 11:57

It is the clocks ... their body clock doesn't adjust just cos we move our clocks back a bit! IME, they adjust after a few days.

Just try going longhaul with them. It's really fun when you're fast asleep after a long flight to the US and find them wide awake at 2am ready for breakfast.

SummatAnNowt · 29/10/2008 12:01

4:30am for two days. We were all so very miserable.

But now he's back to 5:30am - 6am thank goodness!

CaptainKarvol · 29/10/2008 12:01

We had 4.35 for 2 days (usually 5.30). GRIM. Yesterday DS was ill, so he slept until 6.30 this morning and only woke once in the night. Here's hoping his body clock is reset now.

One of the reasons I hate the whole shenanigans fo the clocks going back and forth

Mind you-remember the days when they went back and you could think "oh fantastic, another hour in bed mmmmm"

SummatAnNowt · 29/10/2008 12:03

Well, not really thank goodness... but we've grown to live with it.

Neeerly3 · 29/10/2008 12:06

yes yes and YES - 5.45 every morning since sunday, I need medication to stop me from strapping them to the bed at the mo!

LolaLadybird · 29/10/2008 12:22

Feeling so much better hearing this - if it wasn't the clocks, I was worried it was their new rising time .

Don't want to wish their childhoods away, but there's something quite appealing about the idea of them being teenagers and me having to drag them from their beds!!

DS is nearly 18 months and has been up at 5.30 three mornings in a row. He fell asleep on way to childminder's yesterday, and as soon as I put him in the buggy today. It made me wish I could just lie back and sleep too. With another on the way it will be a long time before I get that extra hour in bed again, I guess!

katie3677 · 29/10/2008 12:43

Yep, mine is getting up an hour earlier than usual. I think it's the fact that it's light agin fairly early, hopefully it's only temporary!

anniecam38 · 29/10/2008 12:48

Oh yes! ds(3yr) is now rising at 4.30am,praying that this doesnt last long for the sake of my sanity!!

spookycharlotte121 · 29/10/2008 12:50

yup ds woke at 6 this morning. I was sooooo not impressed. he normally isnt up untill 8! I was a total cow and put him bk in his cot with his bottle and some toy and luckily he played for an hour or so.

cookiemonstress · 29/10/2008 13:44

for certain. mine waking at 5 instead of 6. Silver lining is that both asleep last night at 6.15 instead of 7.15..

katiepotatie · 29/10/2008 13:49

yep our wee one is getting up a hour earlier, it's okay though she normally slept till 9!

furrycat · 29/10/2008 13:52

Mine's the same - but he's losing an hour's sleep every night so why is he so full of beans at 5.45??

claraquitetirednow · 29/10/2008 14:11

We have just got back from Thailand with our 3 year old and 10 month old. I thought we were doing ok when we managed to get them to sleep until what I thought was 4.45am on the first day back, which isn't that far off 5am which is sort of morning....Until I realised the f*ing clocks had changed and actually it was 3.45am...Which is not a good time at all.

Four mornings later I have managed to get the younger one to sleep until 5.30am and the older went right through until 6am so hopefully we're nearly back to normal now!!!
