Board games for 2-3 year olds????? Anyone?

My dd is 27 months. We play simple games of pairs and snap with her matching cards. It often entails lots of coaxing and me letting her win but she really enjoys the concept of taking turns and being involved in a group game.

She'll say "Mummy's go" "Daddy's go"

I was wondering if there were any games out there fro 2-3 year olds. Or else other card games, picture games we could make up.

Any ideas?

Cranium Cariboo is fantastic - my ds 2.5 loves it and can play on his own or with us. It's the best thing we've bought him in ages.

Another vote for Cranium Cariboo here. Kids loved it. Older son has now graduated up to Cranium Cadoo but still plays Cariboo with his younger brother.

You've all given me loads of ideas. I feel a bit lame that DD is so lacking in the games and toy department. Can't wait to go shopping again

some body said Buckaroo....you can actually get it in a tigger version!!! My 3yr old loves it

Pop Up Pirate is brill!! My 3yr old loves it, it says from 4 on the box but I dont know why. Maybe you would have to be a bit careful that a 2yr old doesnt swallow the swords!!!??

Her twin sister is behind with her development and has special needs, she also loves pop up pirate, but needs bit of help.

Great for co ordination and colours

ELC do their own smaller version for cheaper

hungry hippos is fantastic - but it's more of a free for all than a taking turns thing. Tiddly winks is quite fun too

PuffTheMagicDragon · 13/03/2005 16:00

ELC do a lovely version of ker plunk for younger children. Instead of marbles, you have bees which are put in to the plastic honeypot after inserting a layer of green sticks, which you take it in turns to carefully pull out.(lots of delighted squeals when bees fall through the sticks into our pots). It's ds1's favourite game, he got it a couple of Christmases ago when he was 2.5.

As well as being fun, its v educational - uses fine motor skills when carefully pulling out sticks, and lots of counting of sticks and bees goes on, comparing amounts etc.

I think the game costs £5 - bargain!

We got a similar one to Puff magic dragon...but with monkeys...the tails cling onto the sticks...and eventually drop out of the bottom. It's made by Tomy "Tumblin' Monkeys". DD drives us mad with it!!

chocfreeclary - Where can you buy Picnic game? I looked everywhere and can't seem to find it!? Amazon has a record of it, but says it can't get hold of stock.

Oh Mrs Wood, that?s a bit of a drag. I got it from Amazon, but it was I think two Christmases ago. A friend had it and we liked it but that was the only place I could find it. It was quite expensive too, £15 or so but well worth it as first dd (who was 18mo) and now ds2 (who is almost 2) have learned to take turns and play a game which they might not win. Of course I bought it for ds1 as well (he was 3.5) but as it?s suitable for 2+ it really is good for tinies.
I will research later when I have the box in front of me and see if I can find anything on the web from the manufacturer.

chocfreeclary · 14/03/2005 23:47

Ok have had a look, it's by Tactic Babyline and seems to be a scandinavian country... this is the game on their website.
There seems to be a link from this site under contact us to a British distributor with lots of outlets, whether any of them would stock this particular game I don't know but I guess it's worth a try.

chocfreeclary · 14/03/2005 23:48

just checked that link and it's not quite right, but if you click on "children's games" on theleft it should bring up picnic as one of the options.

chocfreeclary - Thank you ever so much!

dd has this last week been playing Snail's Pace Race at playgroup and really enjoyed it with her friends.

CountessDracula · 16/03/2005 14:55

anniebear I bought the tigger version of buckeroo for dd but I thought is was rubbish - it doesn't acutally buck the stuff off properly - am I doing something wrong?
