My daughters shoes are causing blisters, but the fitting lady says they're fine.

My 3.5 year old daughter has has her start-rite shoes for 9 weeks now, and a blister has been rubbed on the sides of both her little tows. I assumed they were now too small and went to have her fitted with new ones. The lady measured her as the size the shoes are and said she had between 2 and 4 weeks left in them. I said she had blisters, and the lady felt again and said that she shouldn't have.
She said she'd try a bigger size on her but didn't have anything I liked, she has to have ones with a square tow and a T-bar in a G so it limmits it. In the end I thought, if she's got a few weeks left in them and she thinks they're o.k, I'll go back in 2-4 weeks. I looked inside the shoes today and can see where the little tow rubs as it's caused a patch inside the shoe.
Should I have them checked again at a different shop, or just go back and get the bigger size in what ever style they suggest?

Try a different style of shoe eg Clarks. I would definately replace if she has blisters as they wear the same pair every day don't they!

I'd better re phrase that, they didn't have any shoes suitable with a t- bar in her size which suited her foot shape and in a colour that goes with everything. They'd have to order them in, I don't live in the city I had them checked, so I thought I'd rather get them locally.

Yes, I could try clarks. She has a really awkward foot shape, so it's hard to find shoes that fit and look nice. I love the classic looking ones, but untill she looses her chbby instep they are a no no.

I've just looked at their websight and they only ahve one pair of t-bars and they look awful. She had a nice pair last year from clarks, which suted her foot shape perfectly. They even had flashing lights in the heel.

It could be her socks, I find that I have to wear mine inside out other wise the seam digs in on my little toe.

mummyloveslucy · 26/10/2008 19:10

I've thought about that too and I've started doing that with her socks. I've tried looking for seamless socks, but can't find any.

Ahh get her a pair of trainers from Woolies or something, mine always seem to find the £5 supermarket shoes more comfy than their proper ones!

mummyloveslucy · 26/10/2008 19:29

Her feet are very wide though. I'de have to get them 2 sizes too big to get the length. If she was a standard fit it would save a lot of money.

I have found our local shop a bit hit and miss with fittings. I have returned 2 pairs in a year as when we get home and she puts them on to play in they are too narrow. In fact I have another pair here waiting to go back - the woman must hate me

However I think that if you are paying £30 ish for well fitting shoes you should get the correct size. Perhaps they were always wrong?

DD is also a G fitting and I found some lovely trainers in Next yesterday for £14. First thing she said was - lovley comfy shoes Mummy. She is 2 and only ever tells you straight; so we bought them.

I actually find boots rather than shoes are good because they fit the high instep better - obviously you have to have zips all the way down.

Hate to tell you she may not grow out of it me and 3 out of 4 dds still have very broad feet, narrow heels, high arches tis a nightmare.

mummyloveslucy · 26/10/2008 19:46

I'm going to buy her some boots but she also needs shoes for nursery. With boots, they often fit her with an F which is standard. This is because there's plenty of room for her instep. She's also narrow at the heel.

We go for doodles all year & boots for winter & wellies for the rain! Not looing forward to when the youngest starts school and isn't allowed to wear doodles anymore!

mummyloveslucy · 26/10/2008 19:57

Unless they bring out some black doodles, or you could dye them.

they do make black doodles - was in clarks only yesterday and saw them!!

MLL, have you tried a children's shoe shop which will have a wider range? DD (2) was wide footed, high arched (but has slimmed down a bit now) and could only wear T bars. Last summer she had Startrites but this winter she's wearing some deep red Italian shoes and burgundy boots that are so stylish I want them!

Yanda · 02/11/2008 20:22

I'd take them back and ask for them to be swopped or refunded. My DD has the same problem as yours and they fitted her with boots in Clarks which rubbed a blister on her foot. I took them back and the conceded that they had fitted them wrongly and I got a refund. Now we go for trainers or Next shoes which seem to come up quite wide if you get the right style.
