What does your 6mo enjoy playing with?

DD has just learnt to sit up, so the baby gym thing is now a bit redundant. She has a few toys which she can play with sitting up, but what does your 6 mo enjoy playing with? I need some ideas!

She still loves sticking stuff in her mouth, but I'd like to get her something to help her pincer grasp - any suggestions?

a saucepan and a wooden spoon, noisy but keeps her smiling away! Also if she is toothless a balloon with rice in it, my LO loves holding the blowy up bit and shaking the balloon.
Stacking cups and a maraca are favourites too

My DS is 7 months but only just sitting. He likes anything noisy really, either electronic or rattle type things. To be honest though, he doesn't play with much, he just practices trying to crawl all day. I think its a boy thing, DD wasn't like this but DS is only really interested in trying to get mobile. I predict trouble...

My hair and his socks. Oh, and the cat's ears!

Hee hee Cuppa. I can relate with that. Our poor pussy cats are now in a permanent state of fear. COnsidering they're houe cats they spend most of theit time trying to get outside or hiding on top of the kitchen cabinets!!

I got a splash mat in ELC and my DD loves giving it a good whack!

Anything noisy....or anything they shouldn't be touching (ie DVD player!!!)

Thanks all! I will invest in new wooden spoon as a treat!

My ds loved one of those cubes once he could sit up - you know the ones that have beads, spinning things etc on each side.

monthlymayhem · 22/10/2008 22:45

This is the one he has - www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B00155R8PE/sr=1-29/qid=1224711898/ref=sr_1_29/278-2671604-0947815 ?ie=UTF8&node=&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=n%3A121077031&page=4

The cube described by monthlymayhem is my 6mo's favourite too. You can get them in most toy shops.

An empty water bottle with rice or pasta in it is also good.

A muslin to play peekaboo?

Board or cloth books?

A selection of wooden and plastic spoons, pans, pots, colander - there's a lot in the kitchen to keep them happy!

Have just seen that cube in Boots and did wonder about it. Thank you.

My plastic beaker was a big hit this morning!

i was making some new cushion covers when DS was that age. he just loved the fabric, all nice and rusly and slippery. he must have spent nearly an hour playing with it while i sewed. then i turned around to see him snoring underneathis (not something he could do back then go to sleep on his own). but would agree anything that made a noise or had an interesting texture.

hadababy · 27/10/2008 11:45

Books books books...she eats them (quite literally!!).

Wooden spoons and saucepans are great too.

She also has an activity centre that she sits in (Fisher Price Jumperoo) and bounces about it and she adores it.

And she has a taggie toy that she loves - she'll lie on her tummy and play with it for ages.

My 6 mo DD loves sucking the labels on clothes, it keeps her happy for aaages!!
