7 Month baby WALKING!!!!!! Normal?

Hi My sis and I have babies 5 days apart mine is quite happy rolling around on the blanket with her toys. My sis's baby girl is walking!!!!

We could not believe our eyes, she pulled herself up onto their coffee table last Thursday and took a few steps. Sis has said she is taking even more today but she is worried that she's going to do herself some harm. Is this too young to be putting so much weight on her little legs?

I Asked my Mom and she said i was walking at 7 months. Practically had to put a lid on my crib and playpen because I kept climbing out.

It's nothing to worry about. It is what it is. She can't UNlearn it and I bet she looks super cute The only thing I'd say is that there's quite a bit of evidence that crawling and tummy time are beneficial ITO developing core strength and spacial awareness. Walking so young she's obviously at risk of skipping this step. I wouldn't worry or obsess about this but it probably wouldn't hurt to encourage some crawling games etc to compensate. For people seeing this and feeling inadequate then don't! It means pretty much nothing. One of my nieces walked at 15MO and is very smart and was a champ at gymnastics until she decided she hated it The other walked at 10MO and is also very smart but a total clutz and is 9 and still can't ride a bike. My own dd walked at a year (13MO confidently) and at 21MO she's pretty good physically. Can walk across a fairly narrow beam alone and is starting to jump, walks up and downstairs independently and is pretty nifty on her scooter. Just enjoy it for what it is. Xx

That is very early! My son is twice this age and is still not walking! He is delayed though. I saw a little girl at soft play yesterday who was walking at 7 months old and everyone was amazed. But yes - safety would be my concern too. Especially when she starts climbing the stairs! Even though my son is only crawling still, he is obsessed by climbing stuff and the stairs are definitely the biggest danger to him st the moment! Stair gates are a must!
