Looking through a camera with one eye question...

OK, this isn't a serious worry or anything just curious.

DS (2.4) was given a magazine with a free toy camera. If you look into the little hole to take a picture you can see pictures from the Cars film, press the button and the picture changes.

He cannot seem to grasp the idea of looking into the hole. I tried holding one hand over his other eye and held the camera in the right place and he said he saw Lightning McQueen but when i let him do it himself, again he just put the camera nearish to his eyes and pretended to take a photo, not even remotely looking into the hole.

Given that he LOVES Cars i thought he would get it but no. When have you noticed your LOs doing this right (if you have noticed at all that is!).
Or is it because when we take photos we don't have to hold cameras to our eyes anymore?

Interested in your thoughts....

Can he wink yet? My DS is 2.2 and can't wink yet so he wouldn't be able to hold one eye shut and look through the hole with the other one IYSWIM. Maybe he's still a bit young to grasp the concept - DS does the same with cameras - just holds them in front of him and says 'click'! Also does it depend on what hand/eye he prefers to use? E.g. I am left handed and look through a camera with my left eye - can't get to grips with it with the other eye even though there isn't anything wrong with my sight! So if you covered his left eye he might find it odd looking with his right or vice versa? No idea really just thinking aloud!

that's a very good point, no he can't wink and looks ridiculous when he tries - seems to think it's to do with gurning...

not sure about his handedness or eye-ness, pretty sure he is right handed, will see how it goes if he prefers one eye or the other.

thanks
