Not sure who to turn to on this one but my dd now 3 is well aware of the differnces between boys and girls anatomically that is.
It is very easy to put a name to a boys parts but what do I call hers...I can't remember my Mum ever referring to it nevermind giving it a name so am quite literally ata loss for words.
Sorry for the explicit nature but if I can't ask all of you I don't know who...

I did see on "Sex in the city" lately it referred to as her "Sushi" but well honestly please

My friend calls hers a Noo-Noo (long before teletubbies honestly !) - I've always just gone for front-bottom, but another friend thinks that's extremely rude !!

donnie · 22/02/2003 12:41

my friend got her dd to call hers a 'minkie' I suppose to rhyme with winkie for a boy ! as I recall I only ever called mine a vagina....

breeze · 22/02/2003 13:12

When I was little my mum referred to it as either Moo Moo, or minibox. Oh dear sound strange when you actually see it written down.

Wills · 22/02/2003 13:34

my Mother always refered to it as her ohmpa. I've no idea why?

ANGELMOTHER · 22/02/2003 13:45

Noo-Noo, Minkie, Moo Moo, Minibox, Ohmpa .....well I was expecting a varied response...lol

Keep them coming

I always refered to mine as my 'middle' when I was little.
I've also used nonnie, minky, and although probably not suitable for little kiddies, kwim.
All quite un-offensive in my eyes.

WideWebWitch · 22/02/2003 15:42

I wouldn't know what to call it if I had a dd either. I have a friend who calls it her 'downstairs' - she always says it whilst raising an eyebrow and pointing at her crotch, all very repressed and English My stepsisters dds call it a fanny but I'm not sure I like that. What about vagina? At least it's correct! Charlotte called hers Rebecca once on Sex and the City too, whilst Trey's was his schooner. Yuk...

Nutjob · 22/02/2003 15:45

My dd calls it her 'Foo Foo', don't know where we got it from, but it suffices, next-door neighbours dd call is her 'minnie', and my neice calls it her 'twinkie'.

suedonim · 22/02/2003 18:15

We use front bottom or small bottom and sometimes fanny (more jokey, that one). My nieces use whizzer whilst my SIL calls it her bundle-of-joy. They all look a bit twee when written down, don't they?!

DD has used the word vagina but in the wrong context - her favourite Beatrix Potter character is, I'm told, Vagina Puddleduck!!

DH & I have a running disagreement on this one, I want to call it a Fanny as that is what mine was called, and he says it should be front bottom. Apparently over here (I am from South Africa) fanny is not very pc. In SA, his nickname is now 'front bottom'. Ha ha. As I am around more I have decided it shall be fanny...

babster · 22/02/2003 18:34

In our house it was winkie, but a friend told me it was Auntie Mary in her house!

soyabean · 22/02/2003 18:45

We call it a fanny too. When I was little I didnt have a proper word, just 'front bottom' which I think now is horrible, and confusing. My 1st child is a boy, and the question didnt arise. But when his sister came along I felt it was only fair that she had a real word to use that was equal to willy, rather than just 'not having' a willy. I still don't feel totally comfortable with it, must be a bit of a prude. But thats the result of not being able to refer to it as a child I think. (Something else to blame my mother for...)
Anyway I think it has been fine as far as my daughter is concerned. She's now 7 and it seems to be a word that some other girls use and all understand. My ds's also accept it as a normal word, just like willy or bottom.
When a friend's daughter came to stay and had a bath with ds when they were both about three, and both only children, her dd said 'Look he's got a long bottom'!

janh · 22/02/2003 18:46

But never forget that in America your fanny is what you sit on.

aloha · 22/02/2003 18:49

Willy for our little boy, fanny for our daughter. Both seem simple, friendly and affectionate sounding, widely understood and non-medical. Our daughter is fine with it (now 11)

janh · 22/02/2003 18:50

When my DDs were small theirs were called front bottom too. (We've kind of stopped talking about them now.)

The proper name for the bit you can see is vulva, isn't it? How about that (or Volvo, to confuse everybody else?)

Ghosty · 22/02/2003 19:16

Willie and Nunney are the names of boy's and girl's 'bits' in our house ...

babster · 22/02/2003 19:56

So many euphemisms - talk about 'beating about the bush'...

WideWebWitch · 22/02/2003 20:05

babster

batey · 22/02/2003 20:19

SueDonim, lol at Vagina Puddleduck!!!

In our house it's front bottom too, have a friend who calls it her Tuppence!

Linzoid · 22/02/2003 20:38

I,ve heard Tuppence quite often, it was jimmy when i was little! I have boys so it's willy for us. I've always thought fanny was a bit of a rude word for it!

zippyb · 22/02/2003 20:40

Winky for DS & Tinkle for our nieces - very twee I know!

MandyD · 22/02/2003 22:21

My son has a dinky, girls have minnies!

kkgirl · 22/02/2003 22:47

my dd named her own when she was quite small. She said her brothers have willies and she has a pokey!!!! Hilarious but thats what we call it.

Carla · 22/02/2003 23:25

My mum and nan used to call it a quim. Amazingly, several years ago there was an article in a women's magazine on this very subject. This is the only other time I've ever heard it called this, and, amazingly, the contributor even went on to say that the correct spelling was cwmn. Where on earth did she get that dictionary??!!!

Sad to say I refer to it as front bottom for my DDs. Soyabean, I know that's horrible and confusing but at 3 and 4 I think quim (or cwmn, even) possibly a bit less so....

Carla · 22/02/2003 23:26

Sorry - meant to say more so!
