DS said "shooes" at around 26 months, followed closely by "socks". What a wierd choice.

babylily · 02/03/2005 10:10

We had 'hiya' at about 13 months, with dada and mama before 12 months. At about 16 months she woke up one morning and announced 'dirty teddy'- must have been a strange dream!!!

She is now 20 months and starting to put little sentences together ('up mummy, your knee' is my personal fave!

chocfreeclary · 02/03/2005 14:04

aaah to some of these!
DS1 was hiya and dada, so nothing surprising there. One of dd?s first (along with hiya and daddy) was her big brother?s name, bless her, at about 10 mo. DS2 surprisingly broke the mould and went with mummy! which the other 2 were much older before they said. Handy for shouting out at night (DH: ?It?s you he?s calling...?)

chocfreeclary · 02/03/2005 14:05

hah! so mine is the opposite of Fran1!

anchovies · 02/03/2005 14:07

DS is 13 months and all we've had so far as dada mama, every animal noise imaginable (todays was a lispy snake!) and NO. What a charming little boy he either quacks at you or shouts no.

acnebride · 02/03/2005 14:11

ds at 13 months says Look with a point. actually more like Loo' or Noo'. Hope that counts. Lots of other stuff but nothing I would swear to in court, m'Lud

northstar · 02/03/2005 17:25

ds first word was "juice"

gscrym · 02/03/2005 17:31

About 1 year old and it was tractor.

Hayls · 02/03/2005 19:10

My dd is 13 months and says Mumma Dadda, Awa (dog's name, apparently), push, sit (to dog), nah, wow and some others that I'm pretty sure mean something but haven't worked out what yet... Anyone translate bideh, manum, sps for me?

CelluliteQueen · 02/03/2005 19:28

DS 18mo and saying no real words whatsoever. He understands everything we say though so not worried as they all develop at different paces.

HunkerMunker · 02/03/2005 19:33

I had a dream the other night that DS's first words were "What a funny robot"

Frizbe · 02/03/2005 19:35

dd's 1st word was bum at 7mths, this was followed by nighttime at 9mths?! (only said it the once, but had a large audience, who all did a double take!) water at 12mths, Tigger at 14mths and Zebra at 15mths! apart from that we have the usual mammmas and daddas and a sound resembling her step brothers name! starting to get a few wot dat's and want dat's tho!

gingernut · 02/03/2005 19:41

ds's first word was teddy at 11 months. Daddy, apple and ball were some of the other quite early ones I think (although apple was `bappm', quite consistent though).

pinklilith · 03/03/2005 11:39

goreousgirl my little girl (15mts) also says golly when she is tired, its started off as oi, and usually started as we were putting her to bed, at about 9mths I think. It used to make me laugh because it was like she was telling us off for putting her to bed.

Because my mum doesn't want to be called Grandma, we decided to call her nana (nanny didnt suit her), so our dd picked up that one very quickly, she does love her nana, if she knows I am talking to her on the phone she tries to take off of me. She also says dada, nana is generally reserved for when Nana is there or if she is annoyed with me, and mama, if she is upset or wants something. We think she has started saying hiya and isha, (my cousins little girl is Latisha and we call her tisha for short).

Oh and she she sort of says stitch (itch - as in lilo and stitch).

sinclair · 03/03/2005 12:34

DS (at 10/11 m) used to sit at table and scream 'Cockeeee' at the top of his voice - all the family would scream 'Cockeee' back at him to his delight - several months later as language developed we realised he was saying 'Car Key'. Yeah, right, youngster, that's going to happen.

Frizbe · 03/03/2005 18:13

pinklilith, your daughter is saying itch - it means one in Japanese! what a star!

pinklilith · 03/03/2005 18:53

my husband would love that, being a huge anime star.

fisil · 03/03/2005 19:03

at 11 months ds lifted the flap of the pond in Oh Dear! and said "gak, gak." Up until then only babble.

Of course we got excited before then cos when he was unhappy he'd moan "mumumumum" and when happy he'd babble "dadadada" but we weren't kidding ourselves. In fact the little darling got right through to 18 months before he addressed me as mummy. The child was quite happily using flower, cloud, shower, friend etc. etc. long before then!

Chandra · 04/03/2005 01:06

At seven months, not mama or dada but the name of the dog

mummylonglegs · 04/03/2005 14:01

At 9 months dd said 'dice' for dog. Shortly followed by 'dada' and then 'bup' for ball.
