Maybe we should have our own support thread for those of us with 7 year old ds's . Mine regularly threatens to leave home too, but usually at bedtime. My dh is working abroad, so I am bearing the brunt of his anger and angst.

mary sheedy kurcinka - it's very american but it's great at making you feel better about your child's behaviour and understanding it more. and feeling less alone - always key, of course!! it made me understand, for instance, that my tantruming, rage-prone DD was a classic high-intensity introvert, who needed vast swathes of time chilling out between (to her) stressful situations such as playdates, over-stimulating trips to the shop etc. it helped a lot. but the HTT book is much better at being specific about what to do in situation x, y, or z - am definitely going to get back to it this week i reckon!

i agree we need a support thread!
we'll i am now going to waiting for postman every morning till book arrives.think i'll try that one first before i look at others as it seems so widely praised.
we had 'problems' just coming out of school recently-not just ds1 though.part of it is ds2 going in different direction(as most 2 year olds seem too) and ds1 getting fed up and wondering off to hide, never out school gates but worrying still.so that starts our after school time with every one grumpy(mostly me i admit, today i said we'd bake but said if they both ran off we wouldnt.so were not.bad mamma)
