"Should i be picking my 4 week old up every time she cries?"

if i do pick her up she does stop crying. When i put her down again she'll cry.
If i continue to do this will she just cry so i will end up cuddling her? Or should i keep picking her up and worry about breaking the habit later?

Just enjoy it.
I have DD on me now (in hugabub right enough as I need to do housework too) and haven't worried this time around at all - it's such a nice time and they just want lots of lovely cuddles from their mummy. I am so proud of DS when he shows how secure he is at groups and things that I'm really glad I never left him to cry. You're doing great and she will love you for it!!
(even though your arms will probably fall off at some point)

Yes.. how can you resist. All babies are adorable at that age, like little living dolls.

She is too young to be spoilt. Needs to hear your heartbeat, feel your warmth and smell your mummy smell to be comforted. They grow far too fast to miss out on the early cuddles

aww..sasamax I was partly doing this as thoguht it was protection against bingo wings

Overmydeadbody · 15/09/2008 16:09

yes yes yes

definately

of course

Overmydeadbody · 15/09/2008 16:10

(and yes it will keep your arms toned too!)

sasamax · 15/09/2008 16:12

No bingo wings on prosthetics!
(ok getting a bit sick now - sorry everyone!)

There is research that proves that babies who get picked up the most / have their demands met most during the first six months of their lives, cry LESS and make fewer demands during the next six months.

So in fact it is the opposite of what you might think! Picking her up absolutely asap when she lets out a whimper, will probably ensure she is so very secure that she won't bother crying much at all as she gets older

And carrying is good for colic and wind too!

EffiePerine · 15/09/2008 16:17

yes

pinata · 15/09/2008 16:23

yes do it - my DD was a baby who loved space and cried extra if picked up too much. if yours wants cuddles, give them and enjoy because it's just lovely and passes so fast, like everyone here has said
