Dreamfeeds and burping

Ladies, I have started giving dreamfeeds to my LO at 11pm. However as she is still asleep when she is feeding she wont burp. Is the idea with dreamfeeds that they are supposed to be awake?

My DD never used to wake for her dream feed...dont think they are suppose to. Does you LO wake then ?

What happens if you put her down without getting a burp? You might find that she's fine. I think the theory is that they are so relaxed when they have their dreamfeed (and drink gently, no gulping) that they don't need to burp.

My ds never burped after a dreamfeed. He was fine. They are meant to be so fast asleep that they don't gulp the air so have no need to burp. It seemed to be true with my ds.

MY DS never burped either after his dream feed.

i just cuddle mine upright sitting sideways on my lap, leaning into my chest whilst still asleep, rocking gently from side to side (so his movement is backwards and forwards) - 9 times out of 10 a huge belch will come up within about 5 minutes - if it doesn't, i lift him up to my shoulder, cuddling him so his body is cuddling into mine, with his head/chin/cheek resting on my shoulder with him still asleep, and gently rub his back in circular movements, that always gets it. The minute he burps, i put him gently back down in his cot and that's it, he stays asleep. Because he has a full tummy now, i find that laying him on his side is much better. Imagine what it's like for us when we have a huge meal, then lie down completely flat, on the side seems more comfy. Anyway, it works for him!

When DD had dreamfeeds she never needed to burp either. Bliss!

Trying to do it now with DS and when he's not woken at all he doesn't need winding either.

My DD never needed winding during her dreamfeed either - i think they're so sleepy that they just don't take in much air.
