OK, so he's not 9 till Saturday, but his forgetfulness is doing my head and purse in.

Everyday he forgets to bring stuff home from school. He started back at school yesterday. His lunch card is lost, despite me asking his teacher last year to look after it. I sent a note in yesterday - he forgot to hand it in. Ditto today.

He lost his coat, shoes & sandals, so big things I HAVE to replace, can't just let him learn from 'consequences'.

He loses lunch boxes, bottles, pencil cases, everything. Forgets to write homework in his diary, so forgets to do it, and I can't keep a check on it.

So what do I do? It's costing me a fortune, I get really pissed off with him, tho I don't think he can help it, but almost 9 he needs to start coping with it.

What do I do?

I think the only way to get him organised for the morning is to make getting stuff ready the first thing he does when he gets in. No playing, no tea, no telly until bag unpacked, homework done, bag repacked and clothes are set out.
Does he have a locker or a coatpeg at school where you could put a laminated list?

When mine bring home pe kit I take it straight off them, wash it, put it back in the bag and hang it on a peg. PE day comes and we know exactly where it is. (works most of the time- I'm a bit forgetful at times too)
Must admit that they usually only bring home pe kit at half term so it's sat on a peg in school the rest of the time. The school do it this way because so many children would forget their kit for pe. So I don't think your ds is unusual in that respect.

here th e rule is they wear the pe kit the whole day they have pe, they don't get changed at school. so the pe kit is washed 2 x a week and in their drawers like normal stuff. I'll try also the whole getting ready early too. ta for ideas

It sounds to me like he has a genuine problem. Have you considered dyspraxia? Symptoms here. If you think this is likely you should take him to the gp as well as asking the school to ask the SENCO what they think. If it is dyspraxia then there's loads that can be done to help him to cope with it. HTH

I have considered dyspraxia, but in Switzerland they don't seem to have heard of it. It does seem to tick a lot of boxes for him.

He did remember all but 1 thing off the list on Friday, but forgot everything this morning - luckily, I was here to chase after him. But it was another cross, grumpy morning
