Hi...My 10 month old DD has suddenly decided to be in a mood all the time (well it feels like all the time!!).

She seems to get really frustrated and cries at the littlest things which is really unlike her - if she tries to do something and can't then she gets cross and lies with her head on the floor crying - no tears just the noise IYKWIM!!! It was quite funny at first but is now very tiring as I am constantly having to distract her to stop the crying. In addition if I don't let her have something e.g. something she has picked up off the floor when we are out she does the same thing.

Is she frustrated ir is it just a phase maybe related to teeth?? Has anyone else had this - I am sure it is very common but it seems to have come from nowhere!!

Hi Ellasmum, we are going through this with ds (13 months) at the moment. I think it is because he can't make himself understood and also is trying to see how far he can go with us. If we tell him 'no' and move him away from something we have the whole lieing on the floor thing, and you know as soon as you give in, or give him a cuddle he'll be laughing again.
So, you are not alone, and I find that ignoring the behaviour or just picking up an alternative toy etc works. Its amazing how quickly he picks himself up and walks over if I start playing with one of his toys! I don't know how mobile your dd is, but if you are fed up with distraction techniques can you leave the room? my ds will then walk or crawl after me to see whats going on.

Sounds like she is frustrated to me - would guess that she is trying to do something that she can't - is she mobile? If not you may find this eases then but she may want to do something else, like make you understand what she wants or reach something on a high shelf etc. etc.

I find the sluglet gets grumpy just before she makes a major leap forward. We got periods of grumpiness just before she could crawl, stand and walk. You'll probably find she's just frustrated. The moods passed as soon as the new skill was acquired.

She is just about to start walking I think - she has been cruising the furniture and standing independantly for a while so maybe this is it. Wasn't sure though as the crossness didn't seem to occur when she was trying to stand etc.. Guess it doesn't have to be related.
